The new Volt hybrid car....a lemon.

In Florida about 20 years ago near Jacksonville on a highway there was a traffic jam and up ahead I could see smoke and fire billowing from a car sitting in the grassy median. I was in the far left lane next to the grassy median. It was a slow moving traffic and by the time I got to the burning car up close, I'd say about 80 feet away, directly perpendicular with it the car exploded. Luckily I had my window rolled up because I felt the heat through that glass window. Some soot on my side door. No shrapnel...thank God.

Volt didn't exist 20 years ago

I know lol

sorry about your Dodge.

It was a shame.....The Dodge is a great looking truck and rides solid.

BTW....People on the news called me an idiot because I was pushing a burning truck to the shoulder...... Seemed like the right thing at the time but they may have been right..... :hmm: I figured it was better than blowing up people stuck around it.

did it blow up? like... with a mini-hollywood style explosion?

I don't see the "yuck" here......but oh well. I wasn't mine anyway.

edit.... :hmm: wrong vid

Had one....it didn't help. Fire was underneath mostly. Hard to get to

oh dang. just like that poor bastard. it didn't help either. oh well. had a hotdog with you too?

Ok, fine, let's say Volt is a lemon because it's a hybrid... what about Honda Civic Hybrid and Toyota Prius?

Is Obama forcing you to buy a lemon?
Sort of. They're heavily subsidized, so I'm forced to pay a chunk of the costs and get nothing for it. If I want to pay $41,000 more than what I've already been forced to pay, then I can get an actual car.

Good point

Taxpayers are forced to help pay for the $7,500 subsidy for each $41,000 Volt car bought from a govt run car company. Close to $400 million dollars in federal subsidies were dumped directly into the design and production of this "Volt" hybrid car. The New York Times > Log In

An interesting note here from the NYTimes:

President Obama’s task force reported in 2009 that the Volt “will likely be too expensive to be commercially successful in the short term,” it didn’t cancel the project.

Wasteful and irresponsible.

no worse than tax cut for whoever buys Hummer

Do you really think Volt is the first generation of electric cars? Your funny!

Actually first generation electric cars came out when? During 1890's before the Internal combustion engine were invented!

Electric cars have been repeatly re-indroduced and never had success. I do not think it is going to be successfully, plus it is true insanity, because doing same mistake over and over and expect different result? Har Har Har! Ain't gonna happen.

Feel free Check out on Wiki and there is plenty of information and how many electric cars are out there in history since 1890.

people buy first-generation iPhone/iPod even though it was overpriced for lack of features. It continues to improve.

Same thing for Toyota Prius. Same thing for Ford T-Model. Who wanted the clunky thing when a horse carriage can do much better job?
