Canada's economy is suddenly the envy of the world

Do you have any concrete evidence to provide this erratic percentage you just provided?

This is laughable at best and of course a comment expected from an American. Deflecting your own country's problems ie the oil spill and the major banks buyout, etc when we have been very consistent in our country.

Yep. Typical, isn't it?

Too bad that I did not marry a canadian guy! I ended up married a upstate ny guy instead of. Our current location was only 3 and half hours away from canada. That was pretty close!

Ever been to Allegany State Park in NY? I go there quite often, love that park!

Oh? Not yet! My dh and I just started camping all over NY, but it was only our second year of this year. :giggle: My kids love camping.

Have you ever camping there in allegany state park? lemme know! thanks!

Here is a solution to U>S>A> problem. Take down the fence being build and welcome all who come over from Mexico. Give them a hot bath, some good clothes, and a nice meal. Then give them all a free bus ride north where they can cross into Canada. After all, Canada is the best country able to help them and will welcome them with open arms.

Ignorance must be quite the bliss for you.

I am happy for Canada. I see Canada as a country to be admired.

People who attack Canada are probably jealous.

Agreed. Canada is to be admired on many levels, economic being only one of them.

That's the problem, a lot of Americans are living on nothing but credit. People can't afford to live on just credit.

People shouldn't be buying things they can't afford to keep.

Ahhh...but it is the materialistic American way!:P Don't you know that your value as a human being is dependent upon the number of expensive items you own?

Nice, but one thing I'd like to point out is that Canada has very little to offer, if anything, the US doesn't have, except maybe ice road truckers and unlike some areas in the US, alot less crowded :) Here in Maine we would have nice clean crisp air but, unfortunately we get all the air polution from Toronto and Quebec 90% of the time and the rest of the time we get pollution from Boston and New York. Please clean up your factories so I can breathe better-thank you.

How about lower crime rates?

How about more accessable health care?

Yeah, gotta have that Hummer H3! Gigantic 3DTV displays! Leather Furniture! It goes on and on. People are more materialistic than ever.

As a rule of thumb, don't buy it if you can't afford it.

Couldn't agree with you more, Banjo. The only thing I am in debt for is my education. And I don't plan on adding to that debt by purchasing things I don't need.

Ever since we abolished the capital punishment back in the 1970s, the homicide rate continued to decline over the decades.

Before that, we used to hang them.

Right, the only thing I'm in debt for is my house. I paid off my debt for the education I received years ago.

Yes, I have used that statistic in my arguments against capital punishment. It does not reduce crime.

At the time of the abolishing, I believe it was at an all-time high. Funny how things worked out in the end.

I am afraid I will be paying on my educational debt until I die.:giggle: But hey, it was my choice to go back to school, and I think it is worth it. I sure would have liked to do it a little less expensively, though. I actually applied and was accepted to the U. of Sazchetwan (sp?) and seriously considered coming up there. Then I looked at the average snowfall in the area, and chickened out. Probably a bad decision on my part.:P

You certainly cannot deny the correlation there. Capital punishment - high crime rate. No capital punishment - lowered crime rate. It has been demonstrated over and over again. Beyond me why people fail to see the obvious.

Are you referring to the University of Saskatchewan?
