GOP Blocks Oil Spill Liability Bill - again

Better than playing golf. At least he'd be pretending to do something important.
You mean, like driving us into a record deficit in his first 18 months of office? :giggle:

I would think you might prefer him golfing over working. If he flew down there, you would complain about him going down there. If he plays golf, you will complain he didn't go down there. :hmm:

Wirelessly posted

Furthermore, those against drilling are not against useage of oil.

I means... There are ways to reap naturally-sweeping sources.

Lousiana Environmental Action Network

Someone told me about this group that studying the air pollution cause by the oil spill. Has anyone from Lousiana been smelling the oil ? I have heard on the news some people are getting sick from the fumes. I was really upset to hear if the leak is not stopped , it could keep on leaking oil for years!

May I have your attention, Mr. News Media???

Will the media please stop calling it the "Gulf Oil Spill" and start calling it the "BP Oil Spill". Thank you!

worst oil spill in the history? wondering what "non-MSM" is saying about it

"Top Kill" a success so far. BP Oil Spill

Engineers have succeeded in stopping the flow of oil and gas into the Gulf of Mexico from a gushing BP well, the federal government’s top oil spill commander, Adm. Thad Allen, said Thursday morning.

The so-called “top kill” effort, launched Wednesday afternoon by industry and government engineers in Houston, has pumped enough drilling fluid to block all oil and gas from the well, Allen said. The pressure from the well is very low, but persistent, he said.

Once engineers have reduced the well pressure to zero, they will begin to pump cement into the hole to entomb the well. To help that effort, he said, engineers are also pumping some debris into the blowout preventer at the top of the well.

BP gets all of the credits and kudus for this unorthodox method of stopping this accidental oil release at 5000 ft underwater. It's "unorthodox" because of the depth. It has worked in shallower waters but was considered unsuitable to work as such an extreme depth due to the logistic and technicalities involved. Obama or the federal govt does not get the credit. It is BP that gets the credits. Will Obama congratulate BP for stopping it?

It's funny how our govt were so helpless in this when all they could was fret, fume, demand that BP gets this fixed right away, blaming them for being too slow, etc... while the govt did nothing to help. None. So, ecologically, this is worse than Hurricane Katrina.

Enjoy your vacation, messiah.

No doubt!!

I would certainly agree that a massive oil spill would cause more ecological damage than a hurricane; after all, a hurricane is weather. Certainly a solid statement here. No argument from me. :eek3:

Didn't BP send their lobbyists to weasel their way out of installing $500,000 safety valves on the oil rigs?

Bet they're paying much, much more than $500,000 now for their mistake. Not to mention the 11 workers killed in the blast.

BP lost.

They failed to stop the oil spill so early so no excuse for fucking corporation.

It took BP 36 days to finally put the plug on the massive oil leak located 5000 feet below on the ocean floor. Not bad when you compare that to Ixtoc oil spill in 1979 in the Gulf of Mexico and spilled 140 million gallons (or so they say, could be much higher) of oil over 270 days (9 months) until it was finally capped. The Ixtox well was located 150 feet below the sea surface compared to BP's work at capping the oil leak at 5000 feet below the sea surface.
