Agreed. There is a restaurant in my town run by first generation immigrants (probably a couple of familial illegals in there, OMG:giggle:). No dilution of the Mexican cuisine there, and it is the best I have ever eaten.

That's weird because I posted (more than once) that assimilation was a process and you specifically posted that it wasn't.

Misunderstanding. Let me re-phrase that. Assimilation has not occurred until the process is complete. Therefore, a culture that is continuing through the process cannot be defined as having been assimilated. Assimilation is the end goal of the process.

I have an idea for those who don't quite understand what patriotism is.

I challenge you to enter China illegally, raise the American flag above the Chinese flag and demand that the Chinese speak English. :wave:

For that matter, enter Mexico illegally and do the same thing.

The reason why serving Chinese food buffet style is bad is because in China, they are intended to be cooked quickly and not warmed up for hours. It affects the flavor as well and not for the better. It makes it oily.

I love Chinese food when it's cooked properly.

To each their own.. but honestly, for the asians you won't find many of them that like to eat americanized versions of their own foods.

Chinese buffets are an abomination and often seem to be catered only to very specific types of people who eat there on a frequent basis.
 
There are the Americanize Chinese food and there is the real Chinese food. I've eaten both and I prefer the Americanized one because it suits my taste. Even the fortune cookie is an American invention, not a Chinese one.
