The fanciest prison in the world....

I figured too. sounds like somebody could use a little vacation at Halden Fengsel Prison.

Ah.. Can't answer that one. I think you should search inside yourself, and follow your feelings, and perhaps go over there and check for yourself?

Sorry, I'll have to decline on those suggestions. But it's true, socialism means you have to bend over just like everybody else, except those not on the receiving end. Why? You like socialism or what? I don't care for it. It doesn't work. It just gets messy.

and other says same about our capitalism. we bend over for the rich and corrupt. Socialism won't work here for sure but I think it's not your place to say such thing that works well in other country.

Agreed.

Wirelessly posted

Name one government with a fixed ideology that worked longer than 2 decades.

There isn't any. For a governing body to function without going stale or collapsing, they must be fluid.

Democratic socialism can work, as long the people voted for competent politicans; just like how a liassez-faire government can work as long the people vote for the politicans who can fill the gap.

So, "it doesn't work" is a broad overgeneralization.

Playing in the sandbox does pay. ;)

Hmm, it's funny how the strongest opponents of socialism are these who never lived in socialist countries.

It's a pity that some states understand this, while other states have big troubles implenting newer and better ideas into their systems. I am not saying that norway is superior, and sure they have some areas they far from excel. My question is what stop implention of better ideas and improvements?

Is it cynical thinking and insensitivity? Captialism, conservatism, right wing ideas?

Judgement, overblown sense of personal morality, inability to employ either critical or empathic thinking, and conservative views based on emotional response rather than fact. It is prevalent in the masses, and the masses are also the voters.

No doubt. They have never experienced socialism in practice, nor do they have accurate information regarding the principles behind the philosophy. Just one more instance of an uninformed opinion being formed.

Hm, interesting.

I personally don't think all those luxuries should be provided for those prisoners. If they are pointing out that the luxuries are part of their rehabilitation, then they should in order try to reverse that process by implementing their amnesties as part of their rehabilitation.

Yeah, a lot are said to view prisons as a vile place to be with all those hardcore criminals but it'll be interesting to see how this will work. What about the ones that are abusing it knowingly that they may as very well take it in stride to say prison is better than being at home. I just don't have the gripe for it.

I know, right? and I don't know why I have this innate hatred toward the word "communism" and "socialism". I must have been brainwashed by the American propaganda and dammit I don't care.

I don't want government-run health care. I don't want socialized medicine. And don't touch my Medicare. Keep your goddamn government hands off my Medicare! :mad2:

You see - I understand this approach and it's a very interesting idea - an idea that I'm not very comfortable with but I understand the reasoning. Many criminals are released back to society. in America - majority of them are repeated offenders. It costs money and agony for us victims. So if it's what it takes to reduce the number of repeated offenders.... great but I'm not too thrilled about having this kind of "4-stars prison with chocolate mint on your pillow" in America.
