Mass Extinctions? Frogs, Then Bees, and Now Bats

Wirelessly posted

:)

It's funny when people say we can fix everything when we forget the damage we did in the first place.

Chances are there wouldn't be anything to fix if we didn't create the damage.;)

I was making myself clear, I'm not the global warming screamer here. I'm not out to scare people about that bunk. ;)

Its okay, koko. You have lots of bunk in your folders that you use to scare.

Right.

I remember a paleontology assistant predicted that the only wild things left after we're done with modifying the environment will be skinks, snakes, a few resistant salamanders, maybe a species of crocodilian, some birds, rodents, cockroaches, small canines and felines... in an urban landscape.

I've heard the same thing from an anthropology prof. Dreary thought, isn't it?

I got a reply to my email to the Missouri Department of Conservation and it reads:

"Thank you for contacting us and for your concern about the white-nose syndrome.

Unfortunately, I don't believe that more bat houses will have any effect on the threat to bat populations. Some bat species use bat houses as roosts during the summer but still spend the winter in caves where they are susceptible to the syndrome. Other bat species use caves year-round and would never use a roost box.

As far as I know, there is no difference in bat house plans for western versus eastern parts of the U.U. Here's a link to bat house plans from our website:
How to Build a Bat House "

Pretty sad.

Thank you for contacting us and for your concern about the white-nose syndrome.

Maybe I should contact them about the brown-nose syndrome, see what solutions they have to offer. I know a few people who could use some help with that.

They need to learn to stop following so closely! That nose turns brown everytime the person they are following makes a quick stop.:giggle:
