Hi everyone,

I know some of you play the completely free web-browser based game QuakeLive. Quakelive in a nutshell is

Quake 3 Arena that is completely playable through your web browser.

SilentGamers ( SilentGamers.org ) Owner Robert "ackshun" Bush has offered deaf gamers league dedicated

to our community ( the deaf community )

How to join SilentGamers.org –
You have to be deaf/hard of hearing to participate the SilentGamers.org
We will have to communicate on videophone so that prove you are deaf before I approved you in the league.

As of right now this will be the first league supporting hearing impaired gamers - let's show the world what we

are made of, the bigger the responce the more ackshun and silentgamers have agreed to give us in the future

To sign up please contact ackshun or superjake or icefist/jbm on a free program called "mIRC" on the server

irc.gamesurge.net in channel #silentgamers or you can use our free web based irc on the website.

after you are on irc.gamesurge.net you simply type /join #silentgamers and then simply double click one of our

names to send a private message

another form of acceptable communication is through email

thats cool but I don't think many ppl plays Quake 3 that much anymore since its kind of an old game...

No, Quake 3 is still popular for PC and Mac, I saw alot of people are playing Quake 3 via online, far more than Quake 4.

I do play Quake 3 alot too.
 
Hmm really and I thought millions more are playing MW2 now lol.

No, Don't include console version. :roll:

COD: MW is more popular for PC than COD: MW2 does, unlike console version.

This thread is related about PC games, not console version.

Quake Live is only for PC, Mac or Linux that use web browser plug-in, that's similar to Quake 3.

I'm member of Quake Live.
 
coolness. I remembered how popular Quake 3 was on Sega Dreamcast with sega net. Ah, wish I've experienced that before lol oh well.

Go join Quake Live, it works so fine on your old PC and just use web browser plug-in.

I'm on my new netbook, remember?

anyway, I've registered and tried it out. I'm impressed to see how it works well and all, however, I absolutely hate using the keyboard and mouse in a FPS match so I wonder if it is possible for me to use the PS3 controller via the USB cord?

I found out I need to install the drivers for the PS3 controller, but I'm abit confused to how I can exactly do that?

It should work so fine on your netbook.

Unfortunately, Quake Live support keyboard and mouse only so you just need more practice, you will get used with after that like I did.

Quake Live has practice feature with bots so try it, if you need controller support so you could get Quake 3 via Steam or Torrent and you need Logitech controller too, PS3 controller won't work on PC unless someone make hack driver.

Quakelive is new which is tweaked, different settings from quake 3. It have been ongoing for tournaments. ID Software offered for free to play via web broswer. Everybody play it everyday.

I know about 10 deaf gamers still playing there but Im trying to get ahead of them to knowing that we have run first online league for deaf and hard of hearing community.

so, I've practiced and went thru one real match online. It was actually okay so far. still, I am actually rather suitable using the controller.

See? It seems like you are start improve so more practice would help your hand to recognize the keyboard and mouse, it take more time like I did last year.

WASD and mouse still beat any controller since 90's. I am one of them.
 
You can visit our forum for TIPS and Configuration your QL file. Id Software team added stuffs for deaf / hard of hearing such as cg_CrosshairHitPluse like when you launched your rocket around the corner that you think maybe enemy is there, if your crosshair does pluse then there is enemy there!

You should read the interview I have had with Flame who is hard of hearing, on silentgamers.org "Interview" menu.

I find it suprising that alot of gamers wanted to use the controller on Quake live even thou there is no option to switch between keyboard/mouse or controller. I even wonder if ID software ever thought of anything like this.
 
Controller is very bad to play on any PC games heh.

Keyboard and mouse is more accurate than the controller.


you can look at my quakelive configuration files (autoexec.cfg and ack.cfg) @ ackshun (kal-el)'s configuration

I use wasd for movement, mouse= freelook. mouse button 1 is fire the 2 is jump

you can bind any key for switch weapons and etc all you can configuration that.
