Persons????? Well they are owned by people. It's not like they can contribute directly to a campaign. They can only buy ads. The people still get to vote. And companies face consequences if they offend voters as well.

Funny Obama says he is going to fight the ruling. Who is he going to appeal to???? God??? Seems he may need a refresher in poli sci 101

Hello? The public is a sheep. Why do you think they're so damn fickle in polls? They don't understand and studies have shown over and over - the more money being pumped, the better chance they will be persuaded. The more we pay to people to do the job, the better they will do it even if it harms them in the long term.
not my problem if people chose to be ignorant or gullible. not your problem either. It's not my place to tell them who to vote for either. beside - what about Democrats and liberals? This is not limited to Republicans and their supporters. I mean... didn't ya'all see what Hillary Clinton's supporters did to Obama during presidential campaign? that was a sleazy smear tactic.

and what about product commercials by corporations? Should we ban or limit them from bragging about their products being better than other competitors' products? I thought this is a free country with free speech. People are free to say whatever they want.

Sorry but you cannot just trim the law and deny them of their rights simply because you don't like them if they're like Glenn Beck. A famous quote - "I May Detest What You Say, But I Will Defend To The Death [For] Your Right To Say It." so yea you bet your ass that I will fight for your and kokonut's rights to Amendment One.... including PETA.

The First Amendment should be interpreted to protect the rights of the people and the press and not to be extended to private corporations. Otherwise, why not extend person hood to pets and properties? No, corporations should NOT be viewed as "persons" and the court's ruling on it is just as wrong as it was when it declared that it's a person 100 years ago or so.
1. Pets do have rights. It's animal cruelty law. Remember Michael Vick?
2. Properties. It does have legal protection. Ever heard of "No Trespassing" law?

Anyway - do you know why the Supreme Court made a ruling to corporation as an entity? Because how can people sue them??? In order to sue, you need to list a defendant name. If you want to see McDonald for making coffee too hot, who are you gonna sue specifically? McDonald is just a name... a building. Roy Ronald? He's dead. The manager of McDonald? not his fault since he's just following the guideline set by McDonald.

plus - if the corporation is not legally defined as an entity, how is it going to be taxed by government? How can you tax a building?

It will make a huge difference. Expect Obama to lose his election. Banks and health insurances will raise more moola!
huh? you're not making any sense. Didn't you know some of major major supporters of Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton are.. guess what..... health industry and pharmaceutical giants and health-related special interest groups? Wall Street giants too. What you think why they kept pushing about health care reform? Somebody in health-related businesses are going to get $$$$$$$$$$ if Clinton's health care reform passed! Different people will make $$$$$$ anyway if Clinton's health care reform failed.

you ever wonder where Clintons get their millions of dollars in their personal account? Book sales? PFFFFT. Those very same companies I listed above are the one who paid them a "speaking fee" to speak at their homes and wherever. You could call it as a "legalized bribery" if you want.

Kinda comical when Kokonut takes out on MSM but gloats about Fox news having the highest rating of all "liberal" MSM - Faux news is THE MSM. :)
well who cares? I don't watch news or Fox News so this is of no concern to me. There are plenty of other news channels for people to watch. It's not my job or government's job or anybody's job to tell them what news to watch.

First rule of a Comedian.

Never explain a joke.

Just keep on going.

Darkdog, do you think corporations or unions should be considered full "persons?"
No, and I don't think the government should be in the business of banning political speech by groups of citizens. A movie called "Hillary: The Movie" should not be banned from airing. Such speech is exactly what the first amendment was meant to protect when the people ratified it. If you think an exception should be made for certain types of groups of citizens, push for a constitutional amendment.

Both sides offer good things, but whatever conservatives are for, you're against. Got it.
I keep saying I am middle of road. Guess you skipped over that part. As for the "whatever conservatives are for, I am against it" I just gotta laugh. I vote both ways, something I doubt you do.

Whatever Liberals are for, you are against it. Got it.

Then what on Earth do you mean when you say, "I figure, if the Conservatives here are all in, that tells me this is not something I should freely endorse"? I didn't skip over the middle of the road part- I found it to be a curious contradiction.
Whatever Liberals are for, you are against it. Got it.
Hardly. I want many of the same things liberals want and mostly disagree with how to go about achieving it. I don't consider myself knowledgeable on an issue until I can argue the other side approximately as well as they can and still know enough to reject it on its merits. Here's an example: http://www.alldeaf.com/war-politica...joy-working-obama-gates-says.html#post1424353

I have mixed feeling on court case and it could be good thing that you never know.

It does allows big unions to make campaign on US presidents so it is good thing for democrats so same goes with corporation that favors republican but not always. I believe that big American automakers would make pro-democrat campaign too, in my opinion.

Does it bother anyone else that so many people base their opinion of this on which party it helps or hurts? I mean, this is freedom of speech- a very central tenet in keeping this country stable and warding off tyranny. We should be for it because it's good for us as a country.
