Grandma always did say "there are two things you don't talk with other people: religion and politics."
 
Wondered how long somebody would put that one up. The kids sang to the tune of

Now, isn't “In his sight”? (see red bolded letters). It sounds rather Biblical, doesn’t it? I'd say that phrase is normally used in a religious context, especially when it comes to human equality.
 
I heard that the tune was taking out of Jesus love all the little children (can't exactly remember the name as I never sang it).

Anyway, I do wonder if they are singing because he is the first black president just like they honor Martin L. King Jr. But I don't know if there were songs about him though. Other than a play/program to sing for their parents. When I was in public school we were allowed to sing "what child is this" and such for our Christmas program. As long as we are allowed to sing anything for our christmas program, I'm not going to be bother by other songs either.

In North Korea, children sang about their leader.

They (and the teacher(s) who allowed it) sang as if he was a deity, a messiah, a...god. No difference when you trot out kids in Cuba that sing praises of Castro, or in Venezuala singing praise of Chavez, and so on. Imagine had it been:

He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
George W. Bush!

I'd be horrified at that finding it totally unnecessary, and not even warranted. Indoctrination. Not a good thing.

I wouldn't have a a big problem if it was a church, an after-school program or whatever. Just not in the classroom.

What I'd be curious is whether parents knew about this before hand? What are the odds that out of all those kids singing, you have a parent who isn't supportive of Obama and didn't know this was coming? Was there a waiver or paper notifying that kids will be their to celebrate/recognize Black History Month? Did the paper notification (if there was one) let parent know ahead of time of this sing song diety praise of Obama would be a part of the school's scheduled event?
 
Since my boys are in middle and high school, I don't think they've "sang" this song but I'm gonna find out this evening....

Brain washing?...umm....Obama is not a God or an Idol to be worshipped....I believe it was wrong of the teacher/principal to do this......As for the movie awhile back....I told my sons it was up to them if they wanted to watch it. And if they did not want to, and if the teacher insisted they must....then to go to the principal's office and call me....
 
Obama is your president and a leader and a messiah, sing praises to him or else... ;)

Perhaps that stretching it though I can see where the revised song may have gotten the inspiration from. Regardless, it's indoctrination of kids who don't know any better and trot them out like little Castro kiddies in adultation and admiration of a dictator.
 
I think politics should be taught as a historical lesson with neutrality in the schools. I dont tell my students to support or not support Obama. Just teach them about who he is and what his role in America is.
 
This is a yawner.
The teacher will be disciplined.

Since it was done during Black history month, I see no reason why they can't learn about Black historical figures like Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver, Malcom X, Josephine Baker and Tiger Woods.

And I agree with the part about telling people who to support. No point in trying to control what people think.

I am certainly not blind to the $2 trillion dollar running deficit. Not even if it's 1$100 billion, either. Can't even lob a single negative or serious critiques against this president.

Ha ha, I'll take control of all the TV and Cable station and impose my communist views to eveyone in the world. They must obey or DIE to my super nuclear powered deathray of DOOM!
