Yemeni Girl

Yep. Putting the cart before the horse.

The developing world don't have the same issues as we do. Yes, we can provide everything for them in North America and western Europe, and Southeast Asia, however you can't provide the services if no one is going to use it because there isn't any social changes.

Like... Canada sent a few million dollars of condoms to Ethopia. Problem is that those condoms got used as water carriers because-- people were uneducated, and they didn't believe in prevention. You can't advocate health concerns like that if there is no social advancements yet.

So what's the point of having abortions in the Middle East if people are forbidden to have access to it?

Her parents surrendered their control of her. Her husband was in control. In other words, the rapist was in charge. The poor girl was at the mercy of her rapist's medical decisions for her.

A failure of epic proportions.

I wasn't talking about Yemeni girl. I'm talking about many underage pregnant girls in developed countries. We will continue to bring awareness to developing nations. I'm glad Yemeni parliament is trying to pass the law to raise the age limit for marriage.

actually they do have abortions in Middle East

In the article where it stated " the cause of her death was lack of medical care " -- she was struggled for 3 days in labor BEFORE dyin' of severe bleedin'. She needs a medical attention....it means that she needs help to prevent her death. It will help savin' her life if, she was in the hospital before it killed her and her baby. How about tryin' C-Section if there's another option ?

I am against child-marriage -- too young to marry. Children under the age of 18 need more education about marriage, responsibities, sex, and all that. Without education, it killed her. I still don't support abortion.

that's not medical neglect. how can there be medical neglect if there's lack of medical care? It means doctors/hospitals barely have any proper medical tools to begin with.

Good point.
Sadly, I doupt these resources exist in a place like Yemen.
Many girls also go through a process called female circumfrance.
If abortion is used at all it would also be done in an equally primative manner.
Besides, she's married so naturally she would be expected to produce children.

Me too.

So in that case, they wouldn't be able to perform abortions to any hygenical standards either. As those in favor of abortion love to point out, back street abortions kill. Any abortions that take place here would be done to the same standards. All it would mean is that the girls death would have taken place sooner rather then later.

So the point of this thread is totally void.

again - you're missing the point. Again - we overturned abortion ban only 36 years ago. Teenage pregnant girls in here can now have a better chance than those living in countries with abortion ban and/or lack of medical care.

now - we both don't know if it was unhygienic medical facility but all it said was "lack of medical care". It could mean anything but it most likely means a lack of medical tools for drastic cases.

Yes, but they are forbidden to have access to it.

Really. It is not the same thing. Yes, you are making a point that underaged women should have access to abortion. However there wasn't adequate medical service in the first place, and beside she is subordinate to her husband. Your point would be more valid if she ran away from her husband and tried to have back-alley late-term abortion, then died from the complications.

It is not having access to abortions that is the problem, it's lack of self-advocacy. So you can't really compare this story to your cause.

Try Eastern Europe, where underaged motherhood is common; they do have access to healthcare and can operate freely of their husbands and fathers-- yet don't have access to abortion options.

How pitiful that young women lack their own rights there...what's even more stupid is that those doctors/nurses don't have alot of experience when it comes to young pregnant women.

I watched a movie one time that it takes place in China and they used nurses who were only in training were helping to give birth from a mute and young woman and she screamed in pain, bleeding non stop and died from bleeding to death. her baby died as well. The parents of the young woman was very furious with the hospital not having enough experienced doctors/nurses in such situation like this. So in a way it seems like the hospital killed her and won't admit their responsibility in this part. Very stupid and selfish.

I'm sorry for what the young woman has went thru, and they should gain their human rights as everyone else. She is a person, not a man's sex toy.

They disgust me.

Since abortion seems to be the main topic here (instead of focusing on the topic at hand!), does that mean that you agree with the fact that the husband can impregnate the woman/girl as many times as he wants since abortion seems to be the solution?!?

Come on… only people who don’t know what it’s like to go through an abortion talk about an abortion the way they do!

It’s not a solution in this case!

Men are going to use the girls whenever they want over and over again. Whether the girls end up pregnant or not… I strongly insist on the fact that abortion isn’t the solution for those girls who are used and deprived of human rights!

That said, I’m out of here!
