From the Detroit News they report this new finding of a provision embedded deeply in the HR3200 health care plan bill.
Why is there an another hidden "bailout" for the UAW?? No wonder unions have good reasons to conduct an Astroturf campaign on behalf of ObamaCare, at least ten billion good reasons. The union should instead pay for their own plans rather than have taxpayers subsidize them when taxpayers would be getting less themselves from the govt.
We spent more than enough on the UAW. Time to cut the umbilical cord and let the UAW learn the harsh reality by learning to adjust their pension plans to bring them into financial reality for change. It's not the American taxpayers duty to subsidize their failure for the third time in a year.
Editorial: Taxpayers shouldn't pay for UAW's rich health care benefits | detnews.com | The Detroit NewsOne reason the public so distrusts the health care plan being considered by Congress is that so many troublesome details keep bubbling out of the massive legislation.
The latest example is the $10 billion taxpayers will be asked to shell out to prop up the United Auto Workers’ retiree health insurance program. …
In effect, it would ask every taxpayer, regardless of whether they’ll have health insurance coverage themselves after they retire — and most won’t — to chip in to maintain the UAW’s coverage, which even after the union’s givebacks is still better than what the average American worker receives.
