*it's a comic strip. First Box - a bird angrily yelled at the rabbit hiding in the bush - "for the last time, get out of my roses!" and the rabbit said "I'm not in your roses! I'm invisible!" Second Box - a bird said "oh yea?? if you're so invisible, how come I can see you??" Third Box - a rabbit hiding in the bush but clearly visible to all said "how should I know? maybe you have special powers." Fourth Box - the bird looks like he's been caught off-guard, stammered "I....." and rabbit said "maybe everything is invisible and you're the only one who can see it" Fifth Box - the bird just stood there, pondering... Sixth Box - it's a depressing scene where the bird slumps back on the chair under room light, drinking a beer, having a deep thought.

Hahahaha...

Nice Cartesian humour.

Although the bird would probably save money spent on drinking if he bought Rene Descartes's "Meditations on First Philosophy"... although then it wouldn't be a joke! :P

Way to throw the bird off into the thoughts of his very existence :giggle:

its hard for me to laugh at this one, how i saw it, its kinda disturbing, its about loniness, driven to drink (as the bunny is a metaphorical representive of the why's of social unfairness in life, the taunts...)

and the last picture is when the bird is slumped down drinking trying to forget the pain of existence... sorry folks, i find it hard to believe its funny...(even you might think I dont get it, so be it -i dont get it, an d not gonna lie that i do)
hmmm sad....at the same time, why do we think its funny for people to become chronic alcoholics, but only bitch at how alcoholics might hurt? but dont we ever stop and think how much hurting alkys must be feeling? ( again i know this I used to play chess everyday with meth-driving ex-vietnam vets, and yes they do exist in NZ, dying off mostly due to Agent orange's prolonged aftermaths of its effects from its inital poisoning.) also the 'dumbness' of the bird, is not funny, to me its like hearing people mocking deaf people, with this deaf people has been systematically set up to fail and been told so, then get the depression...drink... (OK this might have gone a little too far here, but still i dont like it)
Sorry to be a killjoy, the cartoon didnt made it for me

Wow... Never thought someone would take it that personal.

I just thought of it as an parallel to Rene Descartes's questioning on the existence of the things he sensed which led to him to conclude that he does exist: "I think, therefore I am."

Exactly what I thought!

but realising we exist, can be quite painful, AT the same time, we can also look at NOT realising we exist can be just as painful or more. Confused? consider poverty and the way government 'justify' their existence as slave-like citizen and that government are there to look after the people...the yearniing that we have rights to happiness to twarted..'everything invisible'can be a metaphor for 'lies' and youre the only one who can see it can refers to political/intellectual awakenings

I guess its another take on philosophy...but yes I can 'see' the humor now... but i still prefer not to say 'its alright' because it isn't.
but then again
you can't have a comedy without conflict....
which is exactly why comedy existed, to numb the existential pains...

Grummer: I understand your POV and I am also not going to deny that I agree with the humour 100% because it has two different meanings...

As Jiro commented the pic himself
Sixth Box - it's a depressing scene where the bird slumps back on the chair under room light, drinking a beer, having a deep thought.

oh don't worry. I find it fascinating to see people's different POV on it. Some finds it depressing, some finds it comical, some finds it philosophical, etc.

I see it between comical and philosophical.
