You got me. I do teach rhetoric and writing :D But, let me just ask, where in my post did I mention anything about Bill Clinton and how does that have anything to do with the fact that Iraqi civilians are dying right now? You're bringing in a red herring here. I'm not a fan of Bill Clinton (and for that matter, I have many issues with Obama as well). The actions of many of our country's leaders (if not every single one) have had dire consequences for the civilians of other nations, but let's stay on task here.

Point is - Bush did the best he can and Clinton did the best he can as well. and yes you're right about your last sentence. it's time to stay on the task here and stop blaming and apologizing about the past. Obama needs to move on and actually DO SOMETHING.

Obama - the campaign's over. You're the President of the United States now. Now start acting like one.

I really could care less what you think Jiro. :cool2:

I don't understand his comment about regards Obama visit in middle east and it's his opinion.

I'm pass on him from criticize his post.

then Bush wasn't doing nothing for past 8 years as you claimed.... :hmm:

Why else was Obama elected? If Americans were happy with the status quo, they would have voted for McCain. :cool2:

It's okay. Jiro can continue saying whatever he wants to me. I'm used to it.

I saw Obama's speech on CNN and thought it was well done. Kudos to Obama. :D

Thanks for posting the transcript Reba.

I'll have to read it when I get home from work.

It is so important to read and know all he said. I had only heard snippets and condensed versions. From the MSM and left mostly kudos and from all others OMG! and that was the nicest thing they could say.

He sure made some mistakes and some were so un-presidential of him like some mentioned that I agree!

It's just that he's kissing Muslims who hate us, Americans - face it, really! They will NEVER change. We need to stand strong with Israel, not muslims especially extreme ones. Though I don't mind him trying to make peace with the Arabs, however.

It's dangerous to America if Obama administration forces Israel to accept two state especially splitting Jerusalem to allow PLO to own part of its land and became a state of their own. It's just what many people don't realize how dangerous it goes.

Yes, Bush, Clinton, and few other past Prezs pushed that issue before yet they never learned some lessons... so it ain't any difference with Obama this time yet it gets rather more scary as how he approaches with those issues! We Americans were punished for those done in the past so we don't need any more since we are already in deep by now.

Wake up, Obama and do something better!

hey i believe that obama is going the right things for the americans peoples.

I was pleased with most of his speech. A lot better than his last "sorry we suck" world tour.

America is one of the most, if not most, violent countries in the history. Since the american invasion in Iraq in 2003, 1 million civilians have died. And now I am not including the other violent actions americans have been involved in, like nuking japan and putting vietnam on fire.

You have to undertand that a large part of the world have a good reason to fear usa because contact with the american goverment can cause mass killings. Taliban is a result of american politics to fight communism, and the american effort to create Hamas is another unknown story to many.

Obama is trying to sort out this mess, and the Islam world have good reasons to be careful beliving what Obama is saying. Usa have to show through action that they can do good things if they want friends in the muslim countries.

The economic weakening of dollar and massive selloff is another reason Obama is so friendly. America can't afford too many enemies anymore.

That's at least how the world looks like outside usa.

The President of the United States should not say negative things about his own country and people when he makes speeches in foreign countries. That is very disloyal.

America is at war, our soldiers are being killed, and the President should speak praise of them, not criticism. Our enemies do plenty enough criticism of America and Americans. I expect my President to take the side of Americans, not foreigners.

Obama is not afraid to speak the
truth. Is it crime to tell the truth? To me, he speaks honestly.

I can see that Obama do everything possible to keep his country safe.

Obama visited soldiers in Germany, Iraq and other countries. Soldiers respect Obama more and more than they was in Bush Admin. time.

Why does Obama feel compelled to publicly criticize the past administration? None of the other Presidents did that while in office. What purpose does it serve to constantly criticize the past leadership?

Can you explain why nobody threw shoes at him?

Why? BECAUSE Obama knows how to respect and honor others..

To be respectful of another's culture & religion working pretty good than the hateful and rhetoric of the Bush admin.

I´m sure that you know that respect and tolerance are the paths to peace.

I must say that his speech was intelligent, thoughtful and respectful.

In my opinion, Obama has done a great job for America and it is an excellent beginning!

If other countries don't like us that's their problem, not our problem. We can't please everyone, and we shouldn't try. If you try to please everyone you end up pleasing no one. It's more important to be right than it is to be popular. Popularity is for high school students, not national leaders.

This is your opinion.

You equate Obama with and applaud Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad?

It's worse than I thought.

*sigh*

They both visit enemy countries to make their speech. It shows itself that they want peace with enemy countries.

A lot of muslim people show their respect on Obama´s speech. (Like what I said in my previous post that they did not threw shoes at him).

Some of Americans show their respect on Ahmadi´s speech.

I would say that Bush is the worst than Iranian President. Sorry, but ít´s truth.
