CI Moments

I'm CI user but haven't worn after started 9th grade, it's not about accident incident and will explain below, it was happened before accident occurred, there's few thing that I do like about CI is more feel like loud than HA does and only some annoying is noisy, it can be correct via mapping and more concerned about appearance.

For accident incident, I made some of misunderstood because I don't understand about what my parent was told me and my mother is explain so more deeply in last year, when at this time, I was in poor communication to make understand, my internal CI isn't exactly damage from skateboard accident in 7 years ago and I was passed out after happened then wake up in hospital room but I don't really understand about what doctor was doing and I found out that doctor don't perform MRI but almost did and realized that I have metal or magnet in body. I just got bad head injury but in CI side is ok, I just tested with my old processor and sounds like unstable and coil was unable to stay on my head, it was problem with old processor and need to be re-mapping and coil need be replace, the coil that I got new one in 2000 and last mapped was in 2001, I think so.

I do interesting to get new Freedom but my CI is Nucleus 22 and only one problem that I don't have insurance to cover it then I had accept my deafness but maybe to get one in near future.

I wouldn't rather to discuss about situation with accident due private medical reason but just want correct my misunderstood.

If you haven't used your CI since 2001 i would expect as long that the Processor is still in good condition i don't see why you can't go to Audi to have it re mapped and the coil is easily replaced with new one. Probably cheaper than buying new processor but in the meantime i would find insurance company that would upgrade if you want to carry on using CI.

Cochlear have backwards comparity (sp) which means that freedom can be used on certain implants I think Nucleus 22 is one of them.

Yup, that what I was believe but my processor is bodyworn and prefer to get BTE.

I did noticed that new Freedom is released for Nucleus 22 but only few difference is shorter battery life when compare to other latest Nucleus recipient.

With my freedom the batteries lasts 4 days with CI24RE implant and my mapping is pretty much normal. It depends on mapping you use.

Good luck.

The good news is: I finally distinctively heard my cat for the first time. (He NEVER meows.)
The bad news is: He was yowling because I stepped on his paw.

How do you know when you're used to the CI:

I went to pee and I heard the toilet flush and it sounded really weird to me. This is when I realized that I have the HA turned on.

I was going bi-modal for a while, but realized that it was interfering with my progress with the CI. I put on the HA everyday, leaving it off, and only turning it on for meetings and whatnot.

Daredevel, I do excatly same as u, I use ci only at home but if i am working/outside i use both. Today i forgot my HA... I went to work with CI only... i found it alot better now days so i probably would need to discuss with my audi about upgrading my HA to digital and see what happens.

3 weeks with the nifty remote with my new MedEl Opus 2 processor is awesome. So nice to change programs/volume/sensitivity with a remote in my pocket.

I find making adjustments in certain situations makes quite a difference in hearing better in those situations.

Ahhhhhhhh

I'm glad you're happy with the remote.

Speaking for myself, I couldn't use a remote. I'd end up losing it on the same day I received it. :giggle:

I'd lose the remote too..I've lost me keys quite a number of times..

My CI moment ? hmmm I heard the frogs the other day , from a neighbouring field..aaah..

I would be back go to hospital because upgradeu freedom is cochlear implant.... I need to let know sure make new freedom is better than esprint... I thought weak about cochlear implant.... I willl talk to doctor dr.karpinksi permit.... I make sure figure out wisdom idea.

Frogs are a sound I haven't yet heard with my CI, but I hope to at some point -- especially since there are alot of wooded areas and wildlife in my neighborhood.

There are a lot of ducks around my neighborhood, and yesterday I stood around hoping that one of them quacks. After a few minutes, I was impatient and tried to chase them to get them to start quacking. Still nothing!!!

If you see some deaf girl in Alabama chasing ducks, that's me!

They bite!! You should carry an umbrella to fend them off in case they get mad and come after you!
