As for riding on Segway -- I tried it out when it first came out. I think you can rent one for few hours or so in certain larger cities like Atlanta, New York, Chicago and et al.

Yep, I've seen a segway few times, Transit Cop use on segway with red and blue lights for downtown bus stops and even Minneapolis Park Ranger's segway with red and blue lights in the parks area

Yea, I've seen a few Segways here in Seattle. I saw the mall police use one to patrol around the mall.
