This is something you all may enjoy. A dollar store string light and lots of cut up fabric strips to make a beautiful Christmas light string. A simple Christmas DYI project!

I enjoyed myself in this video and many thanks to my sweet husband for doing this editing & doing this video for me!

Enjoy!

I love you too Mrs. Bucket! I saw lots of fabric cutting and possible arthritis!:hmm:

I actually own a shirt that says "Sign slowly please."

I think I usually need captioning for speakers and signers both!

Poor me, caught in the middle.

But your lights were nice.:)

Awww. That is a great idea you had there, Mrs. Bucket!

Dear Botts, it s really easy. You see, I had loads of fabric hanging around and those dollar store string lights from Halloween and Christmas just gave me the brightest idea! ;)

Cut up the fabric in strips and they don't have to be uniform strips at all. The cutting is the most work. Tying the fabric strips to the string lights is the best exercise for my arthritis actually! I do have arthritis like you and I use this method to help along with folding warm laundry. They work the best.

Seqs- thanks!! I enjoy doing unique and cost-friendly crafts! I enjoy sharing the ideas with people as well. The economy nowadays is just crazy so it helps to be frugal, aye? :)

That is really neat idea of DIY string Christmas lights, Mrs Bucket. Perhaps someday I'll make a similar one. :)

Thank you for sharing your DIY idea.

You're welcome. Yeah, better than buying something that's pre-made from the store while you can do it for free or for a little cost. :)

Exactly! You can use a red string lights and cut up red, white and blue for American holidays or just to show your patriotic side.

Sport fans- you can even get one tone string lights and cut the one tone fabric strips to match the team you root for!

I'm doing two for Dad- he loves the Leafs and Habs - one is blue light/white & blue fabric and other is white light/blue & red and white fabric.

Cool eh? :) I'll post pictures to show you.

I think I will try it for a craft with my granddaughter. She is only two, but I think if I get the fabric cut first, she would have fun helping tie it:)

Good idea but...couldn't be a fire hazard? With the lights and fabric together?

That s a good question you asked, smile! Other vloggers asked me that at DeafVideo.tv as well. I replied there that I had been doing this for a while and mine is up all year long and it is hung besides my sheer fabric drapery. At first you will smell the heat for only a few minutes, it's natural but it does hot heat up at all.

I only share safe crafts to do being DeafBlind and also as a former Daycare & group home worker. Safety is a must.

I'll post more pocket-friendly and family-friendly crafts for Christmas & involves the whole family.

Tactile smile!

Byrdie, check tv show called mythbusters about a christmas tree catching on fire. The chances are low anyhow.

wow, it's really beautiful... I really never thought about this...

I made poinettia with light garland like what you did with cotton strips/light at several years ago.

Ohhh beautiful idea, please post to show your beautiful job, Liebling!

I made another DIY craft last night and did a video to show it.

Enjoy the frugal yet festive craft!!!
