Good link. The one important thing is that many people forget is that government and religion goes hand in hand.

We can try to separate the two, yell until we are blue in our faces, or declare ourselves an aethiest country.

Fact remains--you can't have government without religion and religion without government. :)

I do have to say that in all of my travels--we, Americans, are the most tolerant when it comes to religion and that my friend--you should be proud of it, whether you agree or not. :)
 
You can have government without religion. I just refuse to believe that this is a Christian country when I see a lot of everyday Christian hypocrisy.
 
That's true Brad. In fact, some people who claim to be Christians tend to be the biggest hypocrites of them all.

I haven't heard anything about Clarence Thomas retiring, but I *have* heard that there's a possibility that Stevens could retire. He's 88 yrs old. He's also a moderate. It was a fear of mine that if McCain was elected, he'd fill a vacancy on the Supreme Court with a conservative thereby potentially overturning Roe V. Wade. This would have been a nightmare in my mind, but thankfully, we won't have to worry about this.

like abortion rights - it should be up to us to own it or not. I choose not to own it. I do not want to be told that I can't have it if I want to have it.

no netrox... One of this country's principle foundations is FREEDOM of religion. This country is NOT meant to be created as an atheist country but hey - you are FREE to practice atheism. Since this is America with freedom of religion - we're going by GENERAL word - God. Allah, Jesus, and Buddha are the NAMES of God - a very specific religion.

by putting the name of God in currency - now that would be more specific.. in fact - a national religion. That's why we put "In God We Trust"... it is UP to you who your God is.

So do I. Fortunately - Christianity is not the national religion.... just that it happened to be dominant one in America.

Is it normal for a guy to have 5+ cars? 5+ computers? and is it normal to have like 7 cats in the house? For me - i think that's wasteful of resource (food, water, etc) and a pollution (their excretion). but hey... it's your choice. :dunno:
