Actually, Firewire 400 is far more reliable and better than USB 2.0 ever will be.
Firewire 400 is able to reach 400MB and sustain it while USB 2.0 will go up down. I prefer Firewire 400 to USB 2.0 big time.
Steve Jobs made a mistake especially when MacBook Pro is largely used by video editors, filmmakers and such. They prefer Firewire 400.
FireWire is 40-50 MB per second.
I think you are refer as 400 mbps.
For me, I see no difference on between USB and FireWire under Mac OS X, only I know about cons thing on USB is utilize on CPU but nothing happen on FireWire.
Yes, 400Mbps, sorry for the confusion.
It makes a difference when you are working with HD video. It is important for video editors to be able to sustain the transfer rate rather than having it going down and up which can compromise the quality of the video.
USB 2.0 is not better than Firewire despite the fact that USB 2.0 has a maximum speed of 480Mbps. The advantage of using Firewire 400 is that it will sustain the same speed all way through while the USB 2.0 cannot.
I have plenty of experience with Firewire to know that it's true.
You means USB could cause decline of video quality?
Despite the fact that USB 2.0 is more popular, Firewire blows USB 2.0 away. I just hope USB will be killed for good someday but I know it's not going to happen anytime soon.
USB cannot sustain the same speed all throughout the file transfer. Firewire can, that's why you should stick to Firewire if you want to avoid compromising the quality of your video/audio data. Especially if you want to keep it uncompressed to make a 2K/4K/6K master on your computer.

Blu-ray (aka BD) isn't point of consumer yet and Apple has wait for while until BD become point of consumer.
DisplayPort is good, higher resolution and more true computer than HDMI because current HDMI is limited to 1280 x 1080, it won't fit on 30 inches of monitor at max resolution, also DisplayPort is cheaper to produce due no license or royalties fee.
HDMI is good for home theater, TV or related.
DisplayPort is good for computer.
