ouch. oh well. that's frowned upon but nothing new

This is not communism where Government control 100% of everything. This is democracy and captialism market. Its by free will of individual to choose what they want. If they saw an opportunity, they will grab it before think throughly what they are getting.
Certain things Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac created guideline that bankers follow. But its up to individual to accept the worst guidelines as possible. They have choices and not by force. It does not make sense blaming government when its all about freewill.
Thank God for American's freedom. We cannot just blame government for everything because it was created by individual. Not by one person. That the difference.
I think it's the fact that the government has no oversight of the mortgage industry......
If there was such an agency, we might not be in the mess that we are in if the mortgage industry was regulated.
Before y'all jump on me about regulating the mortgage industry--let me point out that everything else, food, medicene, environment, etc, etc, is regulated.
So therefore, why not the mortgage industry?
because food, money, medicine, environment..... it's a life and death situation. It affects our health therefore it must be strictly regulated. Mortgage is not. It is a personal choice to borrow the money and it is a personal responsibility to take the risk or not.

Not really. He may have perfect knowledge of how much his holdings are worth. What he said was that he didn't know how many houses he and his millinoaire wife own. Two seperate points. But it goes to show that he isn't even aware of his financial holdings.
Well, I say a man's home is his castle, a part of the American dream; therefore, there should be some federal oversight of people who knowingly loan innocent people negative amortization loans.
Danny Westneat of the Seattle Times couldn't have said it any better.

Well-written! It is an unbiased article and all media people should follow Danny's example about how to be an unbiased journalist because they are very biased and/or one-sided.
and whose fault is it to take a risky/bad loan? and whose fault is it for borrowing more than they can pay back? I do agree that there are some unethical/borderline illegal tactics by companies but it's still largely people's responsibility to know what they're getting in. Like I said - no such thing as 1-cent cookie. If it sounds too good to be true.... well sorry.
Do we have to set up federal oversight to watch how people eat because of rising obesity rate?
Really, I paused at mentioning "federal" because I am all for the smallest government we can have. So there is oversight somewhere over these people who make loans. I have a friend and he UNknowingly signed up for a negative amortization loan. I asked him just one question regarding this loan because I had seen material about it somewhere: Did the loan company (big, well-known one) warn (as they are required to) you about the negative affects of taking out this loan? My friend said, no; it was all done over the telephone and e-mails. He never met the loan guy whose company was a mere 30 minutes drive from him. The company just sent over a documents person who had my friend sign a million pieces of paper and that specific issue never arose there, either!
My friend has a couple years within which to be able to afford to correct this matter but doesn't have the resources to find out whether or not he can sue. In the meantime, if allowed to linger too long, he will be in a house that will cost more than it's market value! Dang!
And this is a very common occurrence, I think.....
Let me introduce you to Carol McCain, John McCain's first wife.
Such a sad story and it shows how egotistical John is....

:-o I knew it.... First time I looked at her with her nose high up in the sky, I shat in my pants.Funny that we have not discussed the fact that MCain's current wife, Cindy, also admitted to a drug addiction, and to diverting (i.e. stealing) the drugs from a charitable organization that were intended to be dispersed to children in poverty for her own use.
they should read Danny Westneat's articleYet, we keep seeing people bring up the fact that Obama's father is Muslim.
