Paris’ mom takes offense at McCain’s humor

Somebody needs mental flossing.

He did it, because he knew that he will not win.

I'm thankful to Leibling because Byrdie will now vote for McCain!

In every election, both candidates say the worst things that are even marginally true about each other.

By the election, I hate both sides equally.

Why should we debate mudslinging that always happens?

Good one, Botti....now the trick is to ascertain which candidate will be best for the country vs not voting....

Tousi, that is exactly what I do!

You do not need to :ty: me but media...:D Media, TV news, etc are everywhere to the public and websites. ;)

What he vote is his decision. Everyone have their own decision, who they want to vote. I respect Americans´ decision for vote Obama more than Hillary when I support Hillary due healthcare and family welfare in first place. After Hillary lost, I accept the fact and learn to know Obama and McCain better... I decide for Obama with reason is economy, healthcare and family.

I notice that McCain is busy to negative Obama more and more since Obama´s oversea trip.

:hmm:

So, it's embarrassing to Hilton and Spears to be included in a McCain campaign video, but it's NOT embarrassing to them to have sex on video, or flash their "private" parts for the cameras.

Doesn't say much for McCain, does it?

Good post, Bottesini. Mudslinging is only to infuriate the small-minded, and I guess it's working.

Ha ha ha. That defense of poor Paris and Brittney made me laugh out loud. It sure shows the childish logic of people who would side for the devil if he came out in favor of their candidate.

 Paris´s sex video supposed be between her and her ex-boyfriend but his ex-boyfriend sell sex video to the public without Paris´s permission.

Anyway, what and how Paris and Brittany did is none of my business but I only :applause: Kathy Hilton for speaking out because she and her husband donated over $4,000 to support McCain and would expect him to positive country, not waste country´s time to use people to compare with Obama in negative way...

I've mostly been a lurker lately, but I felt like throwing in my perspective here.

I thought using Paris and Britney was lame on McCain's part, but when I watched it, I found it wasn't the whole ad like the headlines had led me to believe- it was just 2 seconds. His point was that Obama is just a celebrity who's no more fit to be president than any other celebrity. The rest of the ad focused on policy.

The fact is, both candidates are inadequate for their own reasons and neither of them are behaving well. If you think Obama's acting more civilly than McCain, consider this quote by Obama:

"So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me, you know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

McCain accused him of playing the race card and Obama denied it. I might be willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt, except for a very similar remark he made in June that got little attention:

"They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?"

His use of the race card is pretty blatant there. Basically, he's preemptively accusing his opponents of racism, which is a very serious charge in this country.

Barack Obama has positioned himself as a post-racial healer who's come to bring people together and end divisiveness. Comments like these show otherwise. But then, one only needs to look at his radical record over the years to see that he's hardly the uniter he pretends to be.

He's not accusing his opponents of racism. He's accusing them of playing to the racism of the American public.
Playing to racist sentiments sounds like a pretty racist thing to do. Not only that, but is accusing the American public of racism a unifying thing to do? That sounds pretty divisive to me.

Notice that he uses the future tense, though: "They're going to say..." It's smart of him to use the future tense since McCain hasn't done anything racist yet. One doesn't need to actually be guilty of anything to receive accusations from Obama.

And it is not Obama who is playing to racist sentiments. That would be coming from the Republican side. Obama has simply acknowledged that such remarks have been made by his opponents in the past, and undoubtedly will continue.

Nor has Obama accused the American public of racism. However, it is a sad fact of life that racism does exist in America. To pretend it doesn't is naive. He has acknowledged that the element exists.

Nor from McCain, obviously.
