CHEAP Mac osx

I don't think Apple would like it because they don't allow to have license. Unless it's empty software, then it would be okay.

Long time ago, Apple sued Franklin Computer, Orange and other apple II clones.
Founder of Franklin Computer, lived near my house.
Right now, Franklin Electronic sells dictionaries, spelling, foreign language gadget, and e-book

Yeah, that's an unlicensed Mac clone. They are trying to sell us cheaper versions of Macs. I wouldn't buy it anyway. The company will not last, anyhow. There were a lot of Mac clones in the 90's but was killed due to Apple ended the contract because it was costing Apple a lot of money for licensing. There were NuMac, Power Computing, etc.

Psystar will gonna to be fuck up by Apple in later.

Apple made limited license for Mac clone to System/Mac OS 7 then developed Mac OS 8 and released it then all Mac clone were went out of business, few are bought out after Mac OS 8 released.

I don't want an Apple hardware, but do want Mac OS X... Oh well... :(

On EULA, you can't install Mac OS X on non-apple hardware.

If you need source that similar to Mac OS X for PC then get Linux like KDE or Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is best Linux OS for PC.

That will require a lot more tinkering to make Ubuntu look and behave more like Mac OS X, with a transparent Finder in OSX. I'm for supporting Psystar more than Apple due to limited hardware choices from Apple.

This thread should be in Computers and Internet section.

I don't like the idea of Apple doing monopoly. Like Windoz, what's the difference between having Windoz installed in ITX systems (17mm x 17mm mobo) w/ flashdrive to homebuilt system to running Virtual PC on Apple iMac. Psystar have done great job to market cheaper Mac clones. They are trying to make it better for Apple customer to allow greater flexibilty. Apple should take note on that would help their biz by selling OSX software instead of hardware!! Psystar buy OSX softwares from Apple so Apple is making profit so what!! Apple are panoid.

Catty

Again, Apple will going win the case due EULA, no doubt.

Psystar is violating of Apple's EULA, every companies have rights to set EULA and limitation, however freedom isn't free.

Just like Comcast will gonna capping 50 GB on usage.

It did happened to Mac clone in 90's, it almost kill Apple and Jobs had end the license on Mac OS to Mac clone after Mac OS 8 released, Apple was lost alot of money during 90's when Mac clone was boom, it will be unsuccessfully for Apple.

Apple isn't like MS, both of them are different.

It's NOT Apple that Psystar bought Mac OS X, it was someone that bought Mac OS X for Psystar.

Well, it will require a lot of tinkering to run just like it should on a Mac. If you want to run Mac OS X on a PC, it will not run as good because of all the bugs with the hardware. If you are a tinkerer and like to make everything work, then it's for you. The only solution is to buy a Mac, it's that simple.

Whatever. I love and support Psystar.

But thanks anyway. I don't like the hardware from Apple. :(

Apple finally sues unauthorized clone maker Psystar

Apple finally sues unauthorized clone maker Psystar

Apple Inc. is fed up with a small Florida-based firm that has been selling its own brand of computers running hacked versions of the Mac OS X operating system and has finally slapped the company with a lawsuit.

The Mac maker filed a formal complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on July 3rd, just one day after Psystar began distributing a modified version of the Mac OS X 10.5.4 Leopard update to customers who had previously purchased one of its unauthorized Mac systems.

While details of the suit are unclear at this time, AppleInsider has learned that Apple and its counsel at Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP filed the suit on grounds of copyright infringement.

In April, Psystar made headlines when it announced a $400 desktop dubbed OpenMac (later renamed Open Computer) which was described as "a low-cost high-performance computing platform" based on the ongoing OSX86Project -- a hacker-based initiative aimed at maintaining a version of the Mac OS X operating system for everyday PCs.

A representative for the company, identified only as Robert, would later go on record and challenge Apple to bring formal charges against his firm, arguing that the Mac OS X end-user license agreement, which prohibits third-party installations of Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware, stands in violation of antitrust laws.

"What if Microsoft said you could only install Windows on Dell computers?," he said. "What if Honda said that, after you buy their car, you could only drive it on the roads they said you could?"

With Apple remaining largely silent on the matter, Psystar last month continued to taunt the Mac maker by aggressively staking its claim as the lone company outside of Apple selling Mac OS X systems, unveiling a pair of Xserve-like rackmount computers unofficially based on Mac OS X Leopard Server.

As part of its unauthorized Mac clone business, Psystar has promised to provide customers with altered versions of Mac OS X system updates for its Open Computing products shortly after Apple releases official versions for its own systems.

Psystar will gonna be bye bye soon.

Without doubt, Apple will win the lawsuit due EULA and copyright infringement.

I'm the supporter of Psystar, as I shed no tears for them.

Well, but this makes me bash Apple when Apple wins because Apple despises competition when it comes to choice of hardware (but I won't do it in here). :(

I'm gonna have to unsubscribe from this thread and never come back. :(

You need read about Apple's history, it had been nightmare in 1990's and Apple is closer to file for bankruptcy or run out of business when lost alot of money during Mac clone in 1990's, if Apple went out of business then no Mac OS for you and others if need Mac, even Windows would be only choice for consumers.

After Apple made licensed to Mac clone and sales of hardware had been dropped until iMac was released in 1998 to make sale goes up and Steve Jobs had made limited license to System/Mac OS 7 for Mac clone then rushed to released Mac OS 8 to rid all of Mac clone. After Steve return to Apple, sales of hardware and Mac has went boom but not ultra boom until switch to Intel and issue of Vista that cause more people switch back to Mac, such as some schools are switch back to Mac.

You have get deal with it, if you want Mac OS X then buy Mac from Apple, that's only choice for you or struck with Windows or Linux.

Thanks to Steve Jobs for save Apple.
