More Salmonella Cases from Tomatoes... Ugh

I like cherry tomatoes, yummy. tomatoes is a fruit.

I'm not going to eat that for a while because of salmonella.
 
 
Not taking any chances with the tomatoes i got in
my crisper..threw them out!!
So now im growing my own tomatoes, cuz i love em!! :D
 
Don't overreact. Check out what your State's health authorities are advising.....for example, here in California, amongst all of the do's and dont's as regards tomatoes, they say if you buy the ones with the vines still on, they are good. BUT still, washing them off with water usually does the trick. It wouldn't hurt to have a quart sized squirt jar handy that has 5-6 drops of bleach in it. Don't waste 5 bucks buying the equivalent solution at your supermarket.

I grow my own, too but not all of you can grow them year-round.

yeah we are growing our own tomatoes... yummy.. cant wait for them to be ready! :)

tousi is right.. u can buy tomatoes that have vines .. they are ok.. but notice on list it said some states are safe to buy tomatoes .. but if other states that is not on the list then DONT buy... they are not safe to eat.. so keep that in mind.. :)
 
Tomatoes are fine right now, u can go to stores and get them..

Salmonella are all gone now..

yep wash the veggies real good.... thats all u can do so wont get sick from that! :)


2 weeks ago i went to walmart and the tomatoes were GONE... i was like wow.. and now?? its back on the shelves so i know they are ok to buy.. if seriously they are not safe.. they would have taken them off so its ok to buy them and eat them...

they have done tests on the tomatoes ensure they are safe and they are so far.. just dont forgot when u buy them.. and gonna eat them.. WASH them to make sure... :D

I don't think this is true now...just read where health authorities/investigators have gone to Florida and Mexico to find the source of salmonella, a very daunting task because there are some packers who are very big and they have contracts for the tomatoes from many individual farmers. These investigators must check out each one of them. Makes me wonder about the obligations of the packers who contract with the farmers; seems to me they have a duty to see that each farm complies with all the regulations.

Yeah, if you SEE them in the grocery stores, they must be safe
to buy and eat..or they would not be there at all.
Im still leery about buying tomatoes..I guess the ones on vines
are ok but they are kinda expensive..
My tomatoes are growing now so it wont be long before we
can eat them..mmm, cant wait!!
