Arizona Governor's Debate Speech So Embarrassing Even Mexicans Feel Sorry For Her
Here's Arizona governor Jan Brewer giving her opening statement in a televised debate last night. Have you cringed yet today? Because you're gonna. It hurts. Brewer was reportedly so upset by her performance that she spent an hour after the debate personally racially profiling people and immediately deporting them just to blow off steam.

I'm trying to find some transcripts... perhaps more information will come at later time..

Jan Brewer Starts Badly, Finishes Worse, In Last Night's Arizona Gubernatorial Debate
Last night, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer got down to debatin' with her opponent, Democratic Attorney General Terry Goddard, and Ben Smith has video of Brewer's opening statement which could charitably be called a "complete and utter disaster." Brewer's inability to, you know -- introduce herself, thank the debate sponsors, and welcome viewers at home -- hit a snag when her train of thought derailed, leaving dead-air gaps that rival any of the ones on the Arizona-Mexico border.

It's like she forgot her book report was due or something! After the debate, things didn't get any better, after a reporter asked her why she wouldn't recant some insane claims she'd previously made about "beheadings in the desert," Brewer responded by pretending the question wasn't even asked. Then, as every single reporter in the room piled on, she opted to flee, back the way she'd come. [H/T: Tucson Citizen]

*croak*

It happens. Especially without a teleprompter. :)

Nice sources though

Never said there was. :)

there was no teleprompter. not in live televised debate. Just do what Bush did - ITE-HA :cool2:

Hers must have broke.... :aw:

The Sound of Silence
During the first, and perhaps only, debate among Arizona’s gubernatorial candidates on Wednesday night, there were plenty of fireworks as Gov. Jan Brewer, the Republican candidate, and Terry Goddard, the Democratic challenger, exchanged sharp words on immigration and the state’s budget woes.

But it was 13 seconds or so of silence that is being talked about more than anything else.

During her opening statement, Ms. Brewer began by defending her stewardship: “I have, uh, done so much and I just cannot believe that we have changed everything since I have become your governor in the last 600 days. Arizona has been brought back from its abyss. We have cut the budget. We have balanced the budget and we are moving forward. We have done everything we could possibly do.”

At that point, she stared down at the papers in front of her, clutched her hands together, laughed nervously but struggled to come up with anything more to say. It was painful to watch.

Finally, though, she recovered and said: “We have did what was right for Arizona.”

Despite her propensity to mangle her words, Ms. Brewer is considered the candidate to beat, largely because of the boost in popularity she has experienced since signing the state’s law cracking down on illegal immigrants. Mr. Goddard and two other lesser-known candidates are eager for more debates but Ms. Brewer’s camp has not yet agreed.

:topic: this thread is about Brewer's debate with Arizona's governor candidate Terry Goddard.

nice curveball there but *bat cracked*... First base safe!

Not really....point is She has a 19 point lead so the debate probably wasn't a major focus of her attention. She has been pretty busy.... I doubt she practiced at all. No need. Add to that the distraction of Hillary including AZ in a report of Human Rights violations to the UN (nice timing) and it makes sense that she might be off her game.

I do find the hate in sources funny though. I thought the Libs were supposed to be tolerant people.

Liberals? I don't think so.

Yeah, the labels cross over and get blurred beyond recognition. True liberals would not even dream of doing the baloney going on today. Take the Founding Fathers.
