I Feel Bad For Being Hard Of Hearing

there is actually not very much sun in canada so that kinda contributes to it but dont worry about it, i might get myself a sun lamp in my room

well my first language was russian, however i was raised and grew up in canada but that doesn't matter so i know i'm nothing special. i'm actually no stranger to depression so i try to avoid it at all costs and pretend to be happy and fine when i'm not so that's okay. you know what's funny? maybe i should start making dating ads in my school to actually to be able to connect with someone, something like "deaf/hoh student looking for a deaf/hoh girl, text me at #1234568 if interested". Maybe that's a good idea? I dunno, but fuck it you only live once right? It's just really pathetic that i've never had a girlfriend ever though, so...it just feels like i'm a disappointment to myself and everyone. So I'm not stupid.
you need to feel better about yourself before trying to date some one you will get rejections from women if are feeling so down about yourself . I think it would be a good idea to find someone to talk it sure can't hurt. There is only one of you so that made you special ! :)

Don't feel bad. Your social issues aren't unique. They are VERY VERY common. I wish I had some advice.... Maybe try to meet up with other dhh people? I wish that Canada didn't assume that all HOH kids needed was to be mainstreamed with a minimal accomondations approach. Wish I had answers, but yes, it's VERY VERY difficult even for hearing people to find a girlfriend or a boyfriend.

yeah but im not american and im poor
NTID/Gally have a lot of students from Canada. There's also financial aid somehow....you could argue you needed the specific education that a dhh specific school provides (which isn't generally available in Canada) so the country could pay for it!

Good luck, many VR (in US) and equivalency to VR in Canada are unlikely to pay for Gallaudet/NTID, or pay some part of that, so you need scholarship and loan to cover on expensive college education, also there are factors, depending on majors. I recommended you to go thorough the local college if your major isn't related to education, especially IT majors are better in local college.

Also, whatislife, at Gally, you will be classified as international student and it will be more stricter with financial policy - it means your student balance must be clear of outstanding debt ($0) before you could register the courses in next semester or you will be forced to leaving the university.

My state VR tightened up the requirement this year to make more difficult to enroll at Gallaudet after they realized that many students graduated from Gallaudet are unemployed (in long term), but it is useful if you want to be teacher.

I'll look into this, thank you. Loneliness sucks and I have so many failed countless relationships and friendships throughout the years you should just laugh at my life lol

i remember this girl at one point i met on okc she was trying to teach me sign on skype but then i realized she didn't want to be my girlfriend so we didn't get along afterwards

Ok so I will make the dating ad at my school and see if I connect with someone, I'll make a draft

Definitely would look into the equivalence of VR in Canada. I don't know what it's like now but during my time there were a lot of Canadian students at Gallaudet. One of my friends was Canadian and I remember her talking about the gov't service and having tuition paid by them- can't remember the name now- too many years ago lol.

nah i never learned asl im still learning how to speak smoothly and better and im almost 30
I am only learning ASL now and I am 28 and loving it. I use online videos (YouTube) also because I don't have time or money for classes right now. Try searching Bill Vicars on YouTube. Hope it helps :)

Sorry to reply again, but making an ad is not pathetic. It just means branching out to other possibilities than you would find in your life right now. Look at how big sites like eharmony, plenty of fish, even tinder are. I've seen postings online at other sites to like kijiji or craigslist (which is where I found my first ASL tutor as well) and also hello from a fellow Canadian/Torontonian. all I'll say is because especially on Craigslist. That site is full of pervs.. Like put out an ad for a tutor and got back many messages about getting massages from naked men in their 60's...*shudders* :s

Have you heard of the Craigslist killer ?

No but I'd mentioned in another post, not too long ago about those two guys who met and killed a guy under the pretense of wanting to test drive his truck he was selling on kijiji.. The world has crazy people whoever you go.

Just a word of advice, you'll be more successful if you start out with no expectation of a girlfriend, and just look at women as friends....then the realtionship will evolve into something MORE!

Well try looking into dhh specific things. There HAS to be something in Canada for adult dhh people, especially those who weren't lucky enough to learn ASL or attend Deaf school/dhh program growing up.

You know, when people make fun of me, or used to -- I should be something like, "It's not my fault so shut the fuck up"

ok i made the ad, i'll probably make copies and post it on ad spaces in my school (if approved) and maybe in some train stations as well

what do you think guys? obviously i blanked out some info for privacy. Click the thumbnail image below for better viewing. thanks!

I'm sorry but that's kind of creepy. I would never respond to a tear-off.
