For people who have CI, and owns a IPod with that special cord that helps us listen to our IPods, Would it be cool if we have added another wire attached to that special cord that can also allows us to use it with our hearing aids and cochlear implant at the same time?? I just suddently came up with that awhile ago.

Because I'd always have to turn on the correct program on the CI, turn it off, plug in the cord, and turn it back on, and pick whatever song you want to listen to. And I always thought that takes forever to get set up just to listen to your ipod. It would be like a normal earplugs that hearing people wears. But it would be cool to have that kind of cord that makes it look like a hearing person's earplug. But what do you think?? :hmm:

I don't have CIs but that would be cool
Question - Do the computers that go on the outside magnet on your CI have a Tcoil?

I think Hear Again, can answer this question for you... unless someone else who have more experience in this.

coolgirl and Fozzy,

coolgirl: Radio Shack sells a stereo adaptor that allows you to use your CI and hearing aid together. I'll see if I can find the specific model number of the adaptor and post it here.

Fozzy: The CI magnet does not have a t-coil, but the speech processor does. It's embedded into the processor just like a hearing aid.

Yes it's possible for you to use ipod with both CI and HA, I have ear hooks which is used with t coil. it's quite good.

Let me find the link (and american one!)

I checked out both of the links that overthepond gave us.

They look like very intresting headphones or earphones. I always thought it'd be more of a plug for the CI and a hook for the hearing aid..haha

But will those kind of earphones work with the CI??

Hear again: I'll let you know what kind of hearing devices that I have on right now so that the cord would work for me.

On my left ear I have a Nucles Freedom. And on my right Ear I have a MicroPower 5 hearing aid (Phonak)

I just told my dad about this and he wants to know if Radio Shack has an Item number for the specialized earplugs for CI and HA at the same time. If you have the item number would you please post it here?? thanks.

YES they do work with CI's AND HA's otherwise i wouldn't have posted the link!! I have Freedom CI and Unitrion analouge HA when listening to IPOD with the ear hooks (not headphones or earphones I dunno where you got that from?!?) I set both devices on T. Sounds pretty good.

Would be interested to see what's Radio shack thing is ;-)

Happy to learn new things....

haha, I'm already wanting to go to Radio Shack if they have any of those. I don't really know what kind of headphones or hooks that they have. They might be similar to the link you gave me.

Hear again, Any luck yet??

unfortunately, no. i checked radio shack's website and couldn't find any information about the adaptor. when i called my local radio shack, the person i spoke to had no idea what i was talking about, so it looks like i'll have to speak to someone else or pay a visit to the store in person. i'll keep you updated as to what i find out. :)

ooohh, okay. that kind of sucks haha. Thanks for keeping me updated though! :ty::D

I use the regular ear buds with my CIs. I had to set my ipod a little higher volume, but it works well. I hate the direct cable, too many cables coming off me.

What about a Y cable to connect the hearing aid and CI?

ear buds won't work with the freedom because of where the microphone is situated.

another option the OP might want to consider are stereo headphones that are large enough to be placed over her ci and hearing aid.
