Maybe if they want the deaf and HOH to pay attention they should add closed captions....

Scoff! This is misinformation and misconpection! He isn't CI user and not expert. I'm not listening what he said. That is his opinion because he is an anti-CI. I would rather ask CI group and my Audie a bunch the question. I'm going to see Audie today.

HOH-me, this is guy vlog refused to add CC for hearing. His vlog is is for Deaf ASL community only.

 Where is his source that CI is very dangerous? I rather to hear from news reports more than his stories. The most CI users don't give a shit what he said.

He's a french comedian with a lot of youtube vlogs. I've seen a few of his posts. 1 of them was funny.

Anyhow, that's interesting. Never thought whether a defibrillator will cause damage to a person with CI? Something worth looking into.

Myth 28: If you have cochlear implants you can’t be resuscitated with defibrillators

There are certainly risks for users of cochlear implants being resuscitated with a defibrillator. However the defibrillator devices are designed to pass current from one paddle via the heart to the other paddle. Therefore the current should not pass through the head. Cochlear implant users have been defibrillated with no damage to their implants.

Interesting. I had to google it up. I didnt read all of it but find something.

I better let my hub know about it.

Thank you for the link with PDF. I copied the link and pasted into Ci group of link.

The CI member said Honestly that pdf is just all the things that COULD POSSIBLY go wrong, as Cochlear needs to cover all the bases. Reality is that most of us use our processors every day, all day, in hot and cold, rain and shine, through airport security and all though the flight ... We run, play, jump, hike, hang upside down ... We LIVE! Sometimes they malfunction because they are, after all, human-made machines. Certainly we shouldn't plop ourselves in an MRI. But other than that, why worry? So many people worry. I choose to enjoy the fact that I can HEAR and COMMUNICATE. Yes, it's stressful if / when it malfunctions, but I can't be worrying about that all the time. Happy Spring ... everyone enjoying the froggies making all their noise?? :)

If I am in a situation where they need to use a defibrillator to save me from dying then I really don't care what happens with my CI.

I thought you use ASL to communicate?

People worry because nobody wants their child to die. Do you worry about your child? If so, then you are one of those people you just complained about.

Of course I'm use ASL and TC. I'm part of deaf/hearing world. I have a mixed of feeling about Deaf Militants, Anti-CI Militants think CI is for all AVT and oral only. CI need to be part of communicate method options as an equal. I'm all for make love and not war with hearing and deaf over communicate method options. I'm not interest in pro-ASL vs Pro CI war over ASL vs LSL. I'm part of CI-ASL as a TC. I just don't want to see this nasty hateful of CI. I'm not arguing with you. Peace

Why are you on this board if you don't use HA's or CI's???

what seems to be problem for you that she is on this thread? She has every rights to be concerned for anyone who are able to communicate, ASL, then the rest of commuication methods that can add up.

Control freak, perhaps? :D

Myth 2

Myth 2: Cochlear implants cause deaths.

Cochlear implants have not caused any deaths according to the FDA.

There have been a very small number of deaths caused by secondary issues. Meningitis is the principal issue and this is now mitigated against by pre and post implantation vaccination. Other deaths have been from pre-existing issues exacerbated by the surgery.

As with any surgery there are risks. However the success rate for cochlear implants is spectacularly high.

Cochlear implantation has become a safe procedure-and, as result of refinements in devices and surgical techniques, complications are atypical. – ENT Today August 2007

I never heard of head trauma report by FDA. I always wear my helmet for bike. That is great protect my CI area. I know how to care of my head control. I know how to protect my head from dangerous. I don't need to be concern from Deaf ASL vlog's unveil and warned about CI dangerous. The parents can concern for their children with CI. That is not your Deaf children to be concern and worry. I believe it's personal right to be decide as a parent's right. For CI recipients have any concern and can seek CI users, audiologist and doctor. If you're non CI and don't need to be worry.
