Deafdude is copying and pasting hundreds of people's comments from this board, without their permission, onto his blog. He then makes comments about how wrong they are.

Is this allowed?

Good question...I guess the mods would have to answer that. Did you PM them?

I wouldnt think so. Everything is copyrighted by AllDeaf. So, without Alex's permission, he shouldnt be doing that.

I wouldn't like it myself.

When I post, I assume the entire population can read my rambling gibberish (and even steal a few syllables or two). Which is why I attempt to be cautious ;)

This is a prime example why we need to push that handy dandy delete button a little more often.

Can you get the link and post it here.

I just looked around, and if Alex wanted to, he could file a Copyright Infringement notification for Blogger.

deafdude has been doing this for several months...

deafdude.... have some salvia... :aw:

Wow. Some of you guys are unbelievable.

It's not plagiarism or copyright infringement when you're disputing an argument with your own writing and ideas. Besides, it's not like he personally identified all of you and attacked you without provocation. Also, he's labeled each paragraph an obvious quote - meaning it's from another source. Stop taking things so personally. On the internet, you are NOT required to have someone's permission in order to dispute their point of view with your own. Now, if he was copying all of the posts from this forum and passing them off as his OWN as a single blog post without any input, then THAT would be a different story.

I think a number of people on this board need to take a chill pill and let people disagree with them. The CI is not the be-all end-all of hearing restoration and some people need to get off their high horse and realize that. Yes, it helps people significantly- I'm a fan of CI as a result of what I've seen it be able to do for a number of people who have nearly no access to normal communication. However, there are other opinions which are valid. Are you going to take the next step and burn whatever opinion is not in line with your own?

The idea is simple- if you're so over sensitive that you don't want people to dispute your ideas (even if they take the wrong approach or even if you believe they're wrong) and can't stand the idea of that happening, then don't post your ideas to a public forum. Otherwise, you shouldn't be such a coward and instead, dispute their opinions with your own.

He didn't source where he got the posts from. Numerous of bloggers have done the same thing, but they were never attacked because they sourced it. I don't see a link anywhere to the original threads in question.

It would be different if he paraphrased, but he didn't.

It's not so much the point that he didn't provide who posted those notes or anything like that. AllDeaf has the policy (as I understand it) that anything posted in the forum is the property of AllDeaf and belongs to AllDeaf, therefore, there should have been, first the permission to use content from AllDeaf, then to provide the info, if permission was given, on where the comments were from. He did neither and so he is in the wrong. No one is being ultra sensitive, they just want to feel safe in the knowledge that what they say here stays here. Like in Vegas.

Good point. I stand corrected.

:ugh:

Question: do many people actually read Deafdude's blog?

Just a question...
