Al Gore accused of sexual misconduct

This kind of sleaze belongs in a supermarket tabloid, not in here.

Take your medicines and try to have a nice day. :)

This isn't the first time Al Gore has been accused of sexual misconduct.

I am wondering why Democrats try to immediately distance themselves from this topic when it involves a prominent Democratic party member ???

Accusing the person who brings it up as being "insane" or "lacking in credibility" etc.

For gosh sakes, the National Enquirer was the source that broke the John Kerry scandal ..... the same source that writes stories about alien pregnancies and Elvis marrying Bigfoot ....

But ... the John Kerry scandal was eventually found out to be true

(it does not at all mean I believe Bigfoot married Elvis :giggle: )

Your article indicates that it hasn't been proven yet. I'll take a wait and see approach to this. He's not the first or the last to get accused. I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch.

If the media can make their allegations stick, I'll take notice.

Yes, my point was how anything that is brought up against a Democrat is immediately discredited.

One Democrat even lied to Congress. Oh well.

But, when a Republican has a "wide stance" the guy is nailed to the wall.

That was the point I was trying to make. In case you are interested, that massage therapist filed a police report back in 2006. If she had filed it against anyone other that Al Gore, i.e. the guy who owns the bakery across the street, a neighbor, the bartender, etc., I am sure the police would have prosecuted.

But, since a powerful man like Al Gore was the one accused ......

It seems you're in need of a little lesson in recent history.

To my knowledge, the accusations against Clinton have stuck and it's clear he did have an affair. Personally, I think his behavior was grounds for divorce but it was stupid to impeach him over this. So I'm afraid accusations vs democrats are not automately discredited.

You seem to have a problem with understanding what you read. I simply said that I'll take a wait and see approach. I do not know enough about Gore to believe the news or Gore - hence why I'm taking a wait and see approach. I'm going to treat this like a rumor till they come up with solid evidence.

Nor do I care very much if any politician is having an affair unless they preached loudly about staying true to your spouse and then had an affair. What they do in private life is not my business.

No problems here with reading comprehension. ;)

John Kerry?

“And it is time for those who talk about family values to start valuing families.”

The guy with the "wide stance" was arrested and booked. He later pled guilty.

Al Gore is guilty of what? He cheated on his wife. He did not make sexual advances to an undercover law enforcement.

Based on your previous statements, Sen. Craig should lose his citizenship. HE BROKE THE LAW! HE WAS CONVICTED! HE IS A CRIMINAL! If someone did the "wide stance" on you, would you ask for party affiliation before you drew your pistol on them?

Like I said, persecute the Republicans, but when a Democrat does it ... take the "so what?" approach :giggle:

Based on your logic, Democrats are sexual deviants, liars, idiots. So why the shock when another one goes down that road? Republicans are religious, flawless, and brilliant, so when one strays, the world takes notice.

Love how I can spin things when I make an effort. Geez, I see your point...

I'm the same way with the Republicans. I don't care what who they've been sleeping with as long as they practice what they preach. I would be very interested and shocked if Fred Phelps got caught in a homosexual affair. He's a Democrat btw - not a Republican. The media would eat him alive.

Prepare yourself this video. It's funny or, for some of you, your worst nightmare indelibly embedded far back into the recesses of your grey matter. Here we have Taiwanese animators who attempt to re-create the Al Gore massage incident. It's subtitled! Though not in English. Darn.

from the comments posted on that video link:

Question: If a progressive politician makes forceful unwanted sexual advances on a feminist, is it still sexual assault?

:laugh2:

This is your "proof" of party bias? I had not read it until I got bored. Your comprehension of this article baffles me. It basically says the entire thing is hogwash. Also, it was an editorial, not a news article. Focus in when you Google. Use better keywords. I have bolded the parts that you ignored, so you have a second chance to read them. Maybe you should just ask the staff to delete this topic. I find this article both refutes your opinion, and supports the idea that unsubstantiated sexual rumors regarding Kerry may have cost him the election. That hardly seems like "so what" attitude.

ABC News reports that Portland, Oregon, law enforcement authorities have closed the case of a masseuse who claims to have been sexually assaulted in a hotel room by former Vice President Al Gore in 2006. After making the initial claim, the woman refused to cooperate with police, and insufficient evidence prompted the closing of the case four years later. An article on the People website stated that the woman was not seeking money, only "justice." However, the woman approached the National Enquirer last month with a request for $1 million for telling her story.

Al Gore is one of many political figures who has been involved in sex scandals that later proved to be nothing of the kind, or at least they weren't able to be proven. It begs the question: Can we keep calling it a sex scandal if there was no proof of sex, or sexual misconduct?

In 2004, the Political Star reported the presidential campaign of John Kerry was awash with allegations of infidelity. The allegation of an affair with journalist Alexandra Polier was denied by Kerry and later denied by Polier herself. While both parties denied any involvement, and no proof surfaced to indicate otherwise, the mere whiff of a sex scandal caused a media frenzy. We could only speculate on whether or not the alleged affair and the press surrounding it was a factor in Kerry losing the election, but it is quite common for rumors and allegations of impropriety to arise about a candidate when they are in the running for political office.

Nikki Haley is a prime example. The Huffington Post reported that the Republican candidate for governor of South Carolina spoke out about claims that she had an inappropriate relationship years ago with a political blogger, Will Folks. She stated that she had been faithful throughout her marriage, and called the allegation an attempt to derail her campaign. The claim came two weeks before the primary. The New York Times reports that Haley won the Republican nomination, despite the negative press she received regarding a possible inappropriate relationship with Folks. Folks had offered no proof whatsoever that would substantiate his claim.

This year also found President Barack Obama in the media spotlight following reports of a rendezvous with Vera Baker, a former US Senate campaign staffer. As reported by The Examiner, The National Enquirer broke the story of a cheating scandal involving President Obama, claiming to have video evidence. They have since retracted the claim of the existence of a video, according to Mediaite. The tabloid, which accurately reported the John Edwards affair, is now in jeopardy of returning to the rank of gossip rag without proof of their previous reports about President Obama and Baker.

Whatever the truth of these claims may be, the truth of the matter is that political elections and careers can be affected by the mere rumor of wrongdoing. And, once in the news, stories like this don't die easily.

You cannot teach the politically ignorant. They refuse to learn. They just look for the "D" or "R" on the ballots. Anything else requires Uncle Billy Bob to decipher it for them.

What happened was they PROSECUTED the Senator from Idaho. You are PERSECUTING the former VP. BTW, my taxes were used to bring the Senator with the "wide stance" to trial and conviction. It angered me to spend my taxes on someone's sexual stupidity. I would prefer they fix the roads. If I thought like a true Liberal, I would be glad they convicted this guy using my tax dollars. If this was your state, you would want him released without trial. Your bias is hindering you from learning.
