I just got an email saying I had not paid for an EZ Pass to use the road , I marked it as 'spam' and deleted it. My daughter said she saw this on the news that an EZ Pass email scam is going on telling people they need to pay this so they can use the road. Has anyone else gotten this too ?

No...but when I relocated to Carolina, got a notice via mail that I had to pay "road taxes"...wtf? I thought!, since I was from Florida and never had that "tax"....so I threw it in the trash....not too long afterwards, I had to turn in my auto plate for 30 days!....:lol: ...I was livid....asked my sister about it and she said "oh yeah, forgot to tell ya, that's another NC Tax we have to pay to use the roads".....Well, I came back to Florida not too long afterwards.

How long ago was that ? I heard on the news recently that we might be getting a 'road tax ' , you'll have to pay for each mile you drive . CRAP if this happen the cost of everything will skyrockets . I guess the new cars will have some kind device that tell where you drive to everyday and how far.
I am being to think the Amish might be on to something by not using cars.

Members here from NC should tell ya about the road tax required in NC...dunno about SC...but Florida does not require it....and the heck of it all...is that where I lived in NC, the road were terrible, full of pot holes and some not even paved.....Perhaps it's best to call the DMV to see if this tax is actually legit in Mass. (if that's where you live).

We don't use EZ pass here in Florida, we have the Sunpass. You buy it in places like Publix though. :D Haven't got an email yet though... I personally wouldn't put my credit card on any email I got though... I guess people are that gullible though.

It is best to contact the customer service before you do anything. There are scammers trying to get around the loopholes trying to fool people and lose their money.

I do not even have an EZ Pass card so I knew it was a spam right away.
I do not open any emails that tell me I have to update something or warn me to pay up or else. Yes there are some gullible people around , I never been taken by any con artist.

I marked my email as spam then deleted it . I never open it. I see the subject matter and that was a red flag .

We don't have the EZ Pass system for cars in SC. We don't have any toll roads.

You're lucky , how are the roads in your state ? The tolls keep going up in my state to 'help fix the roads ' but I am not seeing that happening in my city.

Alabama doesn't have toll roads and most road condition on interstate is in good shape, but you will find some area with poor road condition, especially in deep rural area and ghetto area.

We have a lot roads in bad shape in my city and pay enough taxes around and we have a local city meal tax on top of the sale tax . I am not sure where the $$$ is going b/ the sidewalks and roads are mess.

No surprise because Massachusetts has a lot of snows and ices that reduce the road life and a lot of damages, especially potholes, but snows are rare in southern states, but in mountain area, snows may be heavier like in Smokey Mountain.

It means MA residents need pay more taxes to repair the road, but federal no longer to support to give much funds to state to repair or expand the roads.

Them rough winter we had did not help the roads at all , there are a lot of potholes you need to be watch out for.

Potholes are common in northern states and any states with a lot of snows.

I dunno.... where I came from in alaska we didn't really have roads so much as trails. Here in houston the roads are so bad id rather walk.
