BREAKING NEWS: Helicopter crash near Seattle Space Needle

Just saw that recently on the homepage of Yahoo. The fire that resulted from the helicopter crashing was put out in half an hour. The crash also burned a car.

Yes, but the death toll is not yet known, but since it takes 2 to ride a helicopter, we can at least assume 2, possibly more.

Horrible story and pictures. Very sad for the victims. Don't know what will happen to the burn victim. :(

Not just burns...,also have to factor in treatment and prevention from infection, as well.

I am aware that just having a 2nd or 3rd degree burns on the arm won't kill me. This is precisely why I left out where the burns could be located as burns in certain locations can be fatal which led to the death of the victims.

shouldn't have left out the Rules of Nines....

That is probable, but victims have been known to die later from second and third degree burns.

Third degree burn don't feels any pain. I believe they got fouth degree. Only third and fouth would kill you with full body. The full body get second degree burn hard to kill you.

The Highlander is correct-- 3rd and 4th degree burns are more than likely to kill a person. As for 2nd degree, only way I can think of is if there are complicating factors to help the person heal or something, but even I'm not sure that's true.

you can still survive with 4th degree burn on.... say... your hand. it's the percentage that kills you!!!!! the higher percentage your body burn is... the less your survival rate is.

there is indeed another complicating factor that makes recovery difficult... an inhalation injury. when you suffer from a terrible burn.. chance is your nasal cavity and lungs are burned too.

I concur and not only that, but a victim can be prone to skin cancer.

You made some good points. Never thought one could survive a 4th degree in a small area. Interesting to know, and very informative.
