Actually the evolution of video game consoles for the home would go on like this:

1972: Magnavox Odyssey the first-ever video game console for the home
1974: Atari Pong for the home
1977: Atari 2600
1979: Mattel Intellivision
1982: Coleco Colecovision (They even released the ADAM computer add-on that totally sucked ass worse than a 2-cent whore)
1983: Nintendo Famicom (Japanese market NES)-the first 8-bit console
1984: Atari 5200 a more advanced version of the 2600
1985: Nintendo NES (improved American version of the Nintendo Famicom)
1985: Sega Master System-8 bit console
1988: Nintendo Super Famicom 16 bit console
1989: Nintendo S-NES 16 bit console
1989: NEC Turbo-Grafx 16 bit console
1989: Sega Genesis 16 bit console
1993: 3DO 32-bit console
1993: Sega 32x 32-bit add-on for the Sega Genesis
1995: Sega Saturn 32 bit console
1995: Sony Playstation 32 bit console
1995: Atari Jaguar 64 bit console
1995: Nintendo N64 64 bit console
2000: Sony Playstation 2 128 bit console
2001: Microsoft xbox 128 bit console
2001: Nintendo GameCube 128 bit console

This is like the console version of Darwin's theory of evolution.
You forgot Sega Dreamcast! :fu2: I'm a proud owner of that!

What would you say if I were to tell you that I have a friend who owns 64 video game consoles and over 2,720 games?

Oh shit blame me poor memory for forgetting the dear Dreamcast!

thanks for reminding me that vamp since my brain's full of junk right now that needed to be cleared up!

Then he's the luckiest bastard alive!

I'd buy that collection from him if he ever sells it but the wife will hang my ass out to dry if I ever drag anything home!

And he forget to switch which "Sega Genesis 16 bit console" should be first before SNES release. :slap: @ sablescort

Dreamcast, such a pity it died thanks to the ignorance.

Yeah, I was impressed with the fact that they were able to come out with advanced consoled. Unfortunately, it was a disadvantage cuz other companies were able to learn from them and make something better. Sega Genesis came out, SNES improved. Sega Saturn came out, Sony Playstation improved. Sega Dreamcast came out, Sony Playstation 2 improved. If Sega Dreamcast waited until after Sony Playstation, then they would have been successful.

I remember when Dreamcast release. I have seen lot of illegal copy of those games. That could be another way to hurt that video games.

That's weird. Just compare to Game Boy.

There is Atari Lynx couldn't beat white/black with backlit GameBoy.

Sega Game Gear finally something we like - pity... lack life battery. Then there is Sega NEO allow to play Genesis's games but still lack life battery. Surprise, both are died.

There is Tiger's own portable video game to challenge on GameBoy Pocket. Tiger failed! Huh!

There is NEO Pocket to challenge on GameBoy Advanced. NEO failed!

Now we will see what happen when Sony's own portable video game system to challenge with GameBoy Advanced SP.

Oh yeah, there is Nintendo DS, new portable video game system.... oh well.

Oh man.....Notice something similiar but eerie between the Dreamcast and xbox....

especially the controllers. the original xbox "Duke" controller is an almost carbon copy of the Dreamcast controller without the Dreamcast VMU plug-in unit.

Even Sega used a modified version of the Windows CE operating system in the Dreamcast.

Makes me wonder if the xbox was more really an improved version of Dreamcast (or another conspiracy theory why Sega went out of the hardware business is that they could have sold M$ the hardware business in secret....LOL but possible, no?)

That sounds like a good theory. I thought about that too. When I first got my hands on a Xbox controller, the thought of playing a Dreamcast flashed in my head.

Well you know the owner of Sega has died about four or five years ago, before he died, He said that he wanted his company to continue making games and that's what they are really good for...games. so, He decided that Sega should go out of the hardware business and start making games for other systems. So, Crazy Taxi was proably the first game from Sega to appear on the PS2 sometime in summer of 2001. Now Crazy Taxi appeared on GameCube, as well. So even Sonic appeared on the GameCube and Virtual Fighter 4 appeared on PS2 and House of The Dead III appeared on Xbox also. They were sold pretty well so it seems that Sega is doing better than before.

But I'm not not so sure about this Sega and Mircosoft thingy...of course, Mircosoft borrowed some ideas from Sega into making their own console, the Xbox.

Just about last year, I heard that Sammy (who bought us the Guilty Gear series) is trying to buy Sega but I havent hear anything new about this yet.

That's very true. Sega went too fast with those things, and other companies whose systems are always abit more advanced than Sega's system...if Sega only has waited until the PS2 was released, the Dreamcast would've never died! :(

I know someone who owns a video game box that you would see in a game room in big stores and malls.
Video Game Box? What do you mean by that?

My friend who owns all of that shit... also owns a Supergrafx System by NEC in Japan. Only five games were made for it and it was never sold in the United States.

the worst system is Nintendo!! its sucks in my own opinion! :gives:

Personally, I thought it was alot better than Atari and even Sega Master System but sure, alot of games were pretty cheezy and bricky at those times, but I thought one of the best Nes games I've ever played was Super Mario Bros. 3 (it was also my first game that came with the Nes console as a bundle) so my siblings and I used to play it AAALLLL the time we couldn't even handle the fun lol

LOL u should have seen my face when I got the NES for xmas in 1990.....It came with that lame "Track and Field" cartidge plus a game mat that was huge that was needed in order to play the Track and Field game. I was like oh shit I gotta act like an idiot in order to play this game using this mat?!

That why Im staying away from Dance Dance Revolution and the mat needed to play that game! Thank goodness my wife only sticks to Tetris and not other games or she would be dancing her ass all over the floor with Dance Dance Revolution on my poor xbox heh!
