Doesn't work if you are asthmatic or are allergic to certain things. No flu shots for my family except mother and MIL.

I am required to get a flu shot because I have asthma.

It is one of the most important things for people with asthma as you are much more likely to die of the flu.

I also had to get a pneumonia shot because of my asthma.

Flu shots prevent flu, not colds.

Son was told not to get one due to his asthma. He also has a lot of allergies like I do, but neither one of us are allergic to eggs.

To Cure a Cold

I have been fortunate the past few years, lol, well at least when it comes to colds. My cure, a strong cup of black or green tea and a shot added to it of something called Rock N Rye....It's found in the liquor store and has fruit in it. Laughing..it opens the stuffy head, calms the cough and let's you sleep.
I had never heard of the stuff til I went sledding and one of my friends. He was giving everyone a small dixie cup of the stuff, It's tasty and I felt great the next day. Smile...Im not a drinker so a small bottle is kept on hand but haven't had to use it...I still enjoy the tea, add my own fruit and a stir of honey...Also when I do make any tea for any reason I brew a large pot of it and enjoy sometimes, soaking in a steamy bubble bath, with my cup of tea.
Peace and Good Health to you all ...Midnight..♥♥♥.

If that is true, you desperately need to get a new doctor.

Here is information from the CDC about the importance of flu shots for asthmatics.

lu Shots - Get Vaccinated
Don't get the flu. Don't spread the flu. Get Vaccinated. CDC - Seasonal Influenza (Flu)
People with Asthma Should Receive a Flu Vaccination Every Year

Influenza, commonly called "the flu," is caused by the influenza virus, which infects the respiratory tract (nose, throat, lungs). People with asthma are more likely to have serious health problems from getting the flu, yet most people with asthma don’t receive a flu shot every year.

If you have asthma, you need to take steps to prevent getting the flu. Respiratory infections such as the flu can affect your lungs, causing an asthma attack. Flu vaccine is the first and most important step you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones from the flu

Thanks for the info. Luckily, no one outside of my mother has had a cold or flu in quite a while. At least 10-12 years. I did have "walking pneumonia" that lasted 7 weeks.

The allergies son & I have among a multitude of other things, involve a crap load of drugs and such. There is not a single cold or flu medicine we can take with out having a severe allergy attack that can lead to death. So, we are ever vigilant and take vitamin C and really clean things down. I'm not sure what specific thing I have been doing has kept up "cold free" or "flu free", but I will keep doing all I have done.

Also, it has been 5 primary care doctors and 7 specialists who told us not to get flu shots. Something about an allergy to aspirin was mentioned at one point.

I wish I could still eat honey, as I loved the drink my mom made for us as kids with warm lemon juice , honey, and butter! I only had one flu shot , I got it when I was health aide and there was a real bad flu going around. I did not want give the flu to my clients and I did not want to get it. I had the flu once in years. I do not get colds a lot. Knock on wood!!

Know how your doctors say drink plenty of clear fluids? This is so true. If you drink plenty of water on daily basis, you prevent colds on a great scale.

I don't believe I have had a cold for about 4 years. I remember getting cold about 10 times a year, it was annoying. I used to drink nothing but soda. I changed to drinking nothing but water, maybe some juice but mainly water to be healthy. I noticed when there is an cold outbreak in my town, I do not have a cold. That is when I realized it is because I changed my drinking habit.

Just my two cents.
