What does the state you live say about your personality

http://geography.about.com/od/specificplacesofinterest/a/gulfofmexico.htm

" The Gulf of Mexico is a large ocean basin near the Southeastern United States. It is a part of the Atlantic Ocean and is bounded by Mexico to the southwest, Cuba and the Gulf Coast of the U.S. which includes the states of Florida "

It's a large ocean basin so I would think it would be OK to call it an ocean the water feed into the ocean and you can fish in it.

Rivers feed into oceans and you can fish in them too. Just saying.

It is not ocean. That is why they call it as GULF of Mexico.
Suppose you are standing at beach near Fort Myers, or San Padre Island, do you see water as Ocean or do you see it as Gulf of Mexico?
Your discussion is invalid. :nana:

You want to be right about the Gulf of Mexico. But you are not seeing what you need to see. Look at the map I do see that the curve of the land borders outline the Ocean. That is why they call the "Gulf" like a half circle of the border leading the water.

I still believe that it is the Ocean in one big continent of the Atlantic Ocean. See the outline on the map that WildHunt had post. That make sense. :)
