I wanna know what people think of the CI and what they don't like about it? Thanks in advance. ;)

What I like about it: Ease of communicating with my friends and family

Ease of being able to understand strangers

Being able to appreciate music again, especially with my MP3 player and personal audio cable.

Watch videos on CNN or Youtube that have no CC and am able to understand them

I can listen to my Dad on his CB radio and understand him

Watching TV without CC or going to a movie theater and understanding the dialogue

Using the phone

New sounds and experiences almost every day - it never seems to 'get old'

What I don't like: It goes through a lot of batteries. That's about it.

What I like:

Getting my independence back
Being able to use my cellphone
Hearing new and more rich sounds that I didn't get before
More energy from day to day - I was very tired before
Like not wearing ear moulds any more

What I dislike:
The many batteries - 3 batteries can be fiddly to change at one time.
Having to get used to changes with every map - makes it feel like I have virtual hearing!
Ummm can't think of anything else. Look forward to reading other peoples' replies as that might give me a "yeah!" moment.

Here's what I like and don't like about my CIs:

Likes:

Being able to hear in noisy environments

Being able to understand the TV and radio

Being able to use the phone

Listening to music and hearing it better than I ever have before

Fuller, richer sound quality to voices and environmental sounds

Being able to hear and understand the voices of women and children

Listening to talking audio books

Being able to hear high frequencies I haven't heard in 20+ years

Being able to hear environmental sounds such as birds singing, clock ticking, thunder, rain, leaves underneath my feet, wind, etc.

No longer having to rely on a tactile interpreter or captionist for communication

No longer having to deal with the frustration of progressive hearing loss from year to year

No longer having to wear earmolds or deal with HA repairs

Dislikes:

Having to change batteries every 5 days

Adjusting to new maps

The loudness of sounds and voices when my first CI was activated

Pretty much all the positives the others spoke about.

I especially love the clarity of speech and being able to use the phone (and conference calls) like the regulars.

I don't like the 3 day battery life. I wish it would be a week at least. That should improve in the future with new CI devices.
