My CI appointments changed because the doctor is out of town.. my new date of the appointments is on May 30th and 31st. Meanwhile. I got the catalogs of the CIs..I read about Biniocs (sp?) and Nuclear Freedom.. I am more towards the Freedom ones. Can you put the pros and the cons on both brands of CIs? Thanks! :D

While I can't say anything about Advanced Bionics CI's, I have the Freedom.

They use a self curling, soft tipped 22 electrode array designed to protect the cochlea during surgery. There are several different programming packages available (ADRO, Beam, Whisper, autosensitivity) to chose from, and a plethora of add-on equipment (personal audio cables, etc) Its also water resistant (although not water PROOF) so if you get caught in the rain, or have been working out and are sweating you don't have to worry about water damaging the processor. You can't go swimming or take a shower with it, though.

You can get a lot more information on the Freedom at Cochlear's website:

Talk with your audie - you'll be able to best identify your strengths and weaknesses and chose the CI that is right for you!
