I went deaf because of hair loss in the cochlea in both ears.

Hello Trainman. I found your post extremely interesting. I am new at this and would like to make some friends here. I am retired from Education. I am a widow and live all alone with 2 cats. I have been looking for a DEAF senior citizens group, seems that they are few and far between! I do not need to write notes, I have pretty fair speech, only occasionally have a problem communicating. But it is difficult to make friends in a hearing world!

Hello Kitty Kai and welcome to trainmen's things.

No, I am never in the Canadian military. I use my avatar to remember and honor dead heroes in our military.

I am in Ottawa. :)

Thanks Trainman. While my husband was still living, we took a 2-week long Canadian Rail trip across Canada, from Vancouver BC to Nova Scotia. It was a fall foilage trip. It was entirely escorted, we did not have to fool with our luggage at all. Some nights we stayed in our room on the train, other nights in luxury hotels, the last night being in a bed and breakfast in Nova Scotia. That is my main experience with Canada and it was very impressive. Most of the people in our group were also retired educators, so we had alot in common. Great meals on the train! Yum!

We will leave you with a laugh and a smile

A woman customer called the Canon help desk with a problem with her printer.
Tech support: Are you running it under windows?
Customer: 'No, my desk is next to the door, but that is a good point. The man sitting in the cubicle next to me is under a window, and his printer is working fine.'
****************************

Tech support: 'Okay Bob, let's press the control and escape keys at the same time. That brings up a task list in the middle of the screen. Now type the letter 'P' to bring up the Program Manager.'

Trainman is back!

I have been under the weather but doing better now.

I am total deaf and do use sign lang and lip reading.

I am not on computer much now just helping all seniors at different clubs, what it is like to be total deaf.

After the government to help the deaf have more deaf organizations in all parts of the World,

Take care now.

Hi Trainman- I have been to Sunnybrook/Toronto-Cochlear Implant program many times since 2007. I was operated there.

As you know it is one of three Cochlear Implant centres here in Ontario since 1984. The other 2 are: Ottawa and London- Adults.

I guess you live in Lindsay, there abouts.

Cheers for now
