The wonderful doll.

Every Saturday Lucy would help her mammy with the shopping. The supermarket was not far from their house so they always walked. Lucy was a great help carrying the shopping bags home. On the way to the supermarket was Charlie’s toy shop. Lucy always stopped to look at the toys in the window. In the front window was a lovely doll. “Look at that doll mammy, isn’t she wonderful!” Lucy would say. “Yes” her mammy would reply. “But she is very expensive, you would have to save a lot of pocket money if you want to buy her”
So, that’s what Lucy did. Every week she would put her pocket money into her piggy bank. Soon she would be able to buy the wonderful doll. “Ha!” her brother would tease her. “You will never save enough money, and even if you do, the doll will probably have been bought by someone else by then!” her brother would say.
Although brother and sister they were always fighting and he was always saying mean things to her. Never the less, Lucy continued to save her pocket money. Soon she would have enough to buy the wonderful doll in Charlie’s toy shop.
Then one day, finally Lucy had enough money in her piggy bank. Shopping day came and while walking to the supermarket Lucy ran over to Charlie’s toy shop. But when she looked in the window the doll was nowhere to be seen. Lucy rushed inside to ask Charlie, the shop owner where was the doll! “I’m very sorry Lucy” Charlie said. “A boy came into the shop yesterday and bought the doll, I’m really very sorry” he said. Poor Lucy was heart-broken. Her mother said “Never mind Lucy, can’t you buy another doll?” But Lucy did not want another doll. She cried all the way home that day. The wonderful doll that she wanted so much was gone…forever!
A sad week passed, Then it was Lucy’s birthday. Her mammy and daddy had got her a brand new bike! It was lovely but Lucy was still sad about the wonderful doll that she had saved so hard for but, could never buy. Then Lucy’s brother said “Oh yea, I got you a present too, you probably won’t like it but, here it is”. Lucy unwrapped the present. First the wrapping paper and then opened the box that was inside. Her face lit up with joy! For inside was the doll! The wonderful doll that she wanted so much! “So, you were the boy that bought the doll” said Lucy. She gave her brother a big hug! They might fight a lot and maybe her brother often says mean things to her but, at the end of the day, he is her brother and he loves her!
