Before the advent of the Internet created the ability to buy hearing aids online, if you were looking to obtain digital hearing aids for yourself or for a loved one, your options were limited. Historically, you would most likely purchase your hearing aids from someone local: a licensed dispenser, a dispensing audiologist, or an otologist, who in turn acquired the hearing aids from a manufacturer. You could also purchase digital hearing aids from mail order businesses, but they were limited in number and offered limited products as well.

But we now live in a technological world, and the Internet has created a global market for millions of products. Whether you are looking to buy a product such as a new television or a medical item such as a pair of prescription contact lenses, you now have the ability to choose from a wide selection of vendors, right from your own home, simply by using the World Wide Web as your guide. As hearing loss affects millions of people, the market for digital hearing aids online has also grown. And now it is possible for a manufacturer to safely sell hearing aids online, direct to customers, cutting out the middleman entirely.

Is buying hearing aids over the Internet really your best choice? It can be, as long as you are careful to make sure that any vendor you choose is following proper medical protocol. If you do your research, buying hearing aids online can save you time and money and can also allow you to purchase the best product for your specific needs. More...

buying hearing aids online

I wouldn't buy hearing aids online. I would buy hearing aids from my audiologist and trust someone who know my hearing loss.

Daffy: It's wonderful that you found a great Audiologist that has helped you to a better life.

Unfortunately, not every one can afford the services of an audiology professional. And many hard of hearing have not found that perfect Audiologist. For those persons the Internet has been a blessing. If you connect with a reliable competant Internet purveyor you will save a lot of money,,,,,maybe even as much a 50%. Many have fitting services. Some have well thought out plans for tweaking and some like America Hears offer tweaking over the Internet and self programming for those so inclined. Also Costco has name brand aids for about 60% of what a professional charges. FYI Ed

Well I bought my hearing aids from hearingplanet.com and I wasn't able to buy them unless I had a licensed audiologist to fit them. Due to the attitude of audiologist 4 years ago they had one in my area that they referred me to.

I had to go to her for the hearing test and the fitting. I got these digital hearing aids (Phonak Savia) for half the price it would have cost me to buy them from the audiologist. When I first visited the audi she asked me how I was going to pay $10,000 for the aids. I then explained that I had been referred to her by the Hearing Planet and she proceeded from there.

The cost of the hearing aids $5200 4 years ago included fitting with the audiologist and 2 years of checkups and adjustments. So, in my opinion, based on my experience I would encourage anyone to use this company for their next aids.

I was also able to get an interest free loan for a year on these aids. The Hearing Planet set this up for me as well with another company. It was all grand and really, I can't say enough about the good service I got and the ability to afford high end hearing aids for half the cost.

I have never heard so well in my life and it has made a huge difference to my life.

Thumbs up for HearSource.com

I too am a happy member of the HearSource personal programming hearing aid community. I hope I never have to go back to the traditional audiology and hearing aid specialists. They (the local dealers) have their place, but I am capable of making my own sound adjustment and I do.
