We had our first ASL class last week. Our older daughter (hearing) went, too, and participated in the kids' 'class.' (Our 8 month old is HOH)
Husband and I really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back. A little overwhelming though...:dizzy:

Prior to the class we have acquired a vocabulary of probably 100s of signs that we use with the baby. But it is a whole other thing to learn actual language...

Are there any folks on here who learned ASL as an adult? So much harder to learn language later in life. I know we have to practice and immerse ourselves of course.

That's great you enjoyed it. It all depends on how you look at it. It can be really hard, if you don't put the effort into learning it. Some people just have a hard time with it I know. Give it time you'll catch on sooner or later. I learned it later on. I didn't have help to learn it when I was younger when I first went Hard of hearing, so I didn't learn ASL until I was like 19 I think. Good luck on the class!
