Hello! First of all, let me thank all of the posters on this forum! I am a hearing writer who's been lurking extensively while researching a book. I've refrained from posting because I can usually get my questioned answered without intruding. I've learned so much!
I was hoping to get a little clarification on the specific issue of signing and nail polish. A draft of my book includes a brief mention of Deaf teenage girls who are into nail art. My thought process: a LOT of teenage girls (Deaf or not) are into nail art, and if these girls are communicating with their hands, I thought that might be somewhere they focused their attention and would want their nails to look cool. Is this just completely inaccurate? Too distracting for ASL?
I appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer this. Thank you and have a great weekend!
