Regardless of the motivation for these politicians, whether it be the glory of not being the fattest country in the world or making ties with liberals, it is objective and true to say that being overweight is unhealthy, but unlike a lot of health problems, it is typically VERY preventable.
See, this is a very heated debate not only because it can be see as a persecution against one's appearance, but also because it directly effects budgets for health care, and the meat and corn industries.
At first glance is very apparent why one would get defensive about the government taking their child due to an appearance, that would make any parent feel powerless and defensive, thus the fear of being out of control sets in. Despite these fears that can very well be justified and understood, I still strongly believe that the only way to solve the draining crisises that are happening around us is to be radical.
I am speaking from the perspective of an organic only vegetarian, so my passion is rooted in a different place than many people and parents who find it to be an attack, but whenever something elicits such a strong response, we must ask ourselves "Why?" Upon doing so I hope many realize, you are not the enemy. You are victims of a culture where food is produced with far more fat and far less nutrients. However, victims shouldn't lay down and die. This case is far less about making this something that happens every day. It is exemplifying the seriousness of obesity.
Outrageous or not, I think people SHOULD be in an uproar. And then ask themselves "Why?" And in doing so, I hope they too let their defenses down and let the facts speak for themselves.
There are COUNTLESS studies that prove the best medicine is vitamins. Your body and health are your most valuable resource, and it makes me truly sad to see people be apathetic to this. Just as it isn't fair to a child to have them raise them as racists or audists, it isn't just to have a child be raised with values not only lacking emphasis a trait that will let them lead a healthy life, but also inhibiting the possibility of wellness.
