Hello everyone,

My colleague and myself, who both teach ASL at our local universities, are seeking examples of a Deaf Culture or Deaf Studies Curriculum for a course that we will be creating for the Spring 2006 semester. If anyone can give any input, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Superfroggy!
Instead of only using the same old Harlan Lane curricula, how about books on late/posties who use Sign, and hoh people who use Sign? Have your students read some of the articles in Volta Voices, and respond to them. Use a " All kids with hearing disabilties should have the right to commuicate HOW they choose" mentality. Often I see a lot of " Kids with oral skills don't "belong" in the Deaf community, mentailty......Do a "Kids should learn to function both with and without hearing aids" approach.
