I was wondering if HOH folks had problems reading and listening simultaneously.
If someone reads to me from a book (quiet environment, minimal accent, ect), I can understand and visualize a story.
If I read a book, I can understand and visualize a story.
If I listen to someone reading while reading the same words - I don't remember what I just read/listened to. The same is true if I read orally.
I participate in a few book studies, but I always have to reread the passage quietly before I can participate in discussion.
I wonder if I'm not really listening to the words, but I know the rhythm of the words well enough to follow along?
Does anyone else have a similar observation?
(I am HOH).
