It's a new show on Bravo and was just wondering if anyone saw it before? I never thought about watching it until a friend of mine convinced me to watch it and now i LOVE the show! ;)

mods: if it belongs on Enterainment Forum, you can move it. I just wasn't sure if it would be here or on Enterainment since it's about 5 Gay men helping one straight guy for a new, updated, makeover. Those guys make me laugh!! :D

Yes. I love the damn show. They are awesome guys!! I am crazy about Carson!! LOL :laugh2:

It's a great show and a very creative idea ... to get 5 guy men to make a stright guy more orgazed. GOOD JOB BOYS.

We just got this show down under, and I have to say it is utter tosh! Rubbish! Crass! Crap! scraping the barrel for cheap laughs! The nadir of entertainment! If it's hot guys you want, stick to porn <at least u see the dicks. And hard ones too!>

deafbrutha its not abt the dicks thats the show is abt! its abt being orginzed and how to have the straight guy understand the impressions basically. and ofc have some humor on the side as well. So we're not ALL thinking abt dicks here the fab 5 are KEWL dudes and i like them!

That's fine, that's cool. I'm not saying you shouln't like the show. Either way it is still rubbish. And it confirms the stereotype of the Gay man as the epitome of style and tase, which is a lot of rubbish too.........not all Gays are like the guys in that show. Now we gotta suffer people who will judge us accorrding to the men in that show.....what's worse not all straight are men are boorish like the lads in this show are they now????

Besides, if the guys in this show flap their wrists even harder, they could all fly to florida for the summer!

I haven't exactly seen the show.. but I sort of differ from deafbrutha's opinion on the 'confirmation of stereotype of gay being stylish' etc. I don't think that's what it's about.. I personally think that some (read "some" not necessarily 'all') gays are in touch with their and others' feelings and sometimes they're the bestest friend of a straight woman.. ya know? So I think they might have a better understanding of what women want -- therefore they're helping straight men clean up their act in order to be organized, kept-together, and oh yeah to impress the women. Is that right?

Isn't that like what that book that is titled (I'm not sure what exactly but I've seen it) "How to pick up women -- tips for the straight man from a gay man"

:werd: you got that right out of my mouth!

There aren't any sterotypes and that show was not intended to make anyone look bad. I saw every show and I have NOT heard one complaint about any straight guy letting 5 gay guys helping him. Like Sweet_KJ said, it's all about helping a straight guys clean up and go for a new look.

exactly sweet and kj I totally agree with y guys! totally down to the max on this all it s abt is straightening the straight dude with better understanding after all u could learn a thing or two from the fab5 there's nothing AGAINST that and i don t see any stereotyping cuz for one thing. All they are doing is helping thier fellowman weather thier straight or gay and gives the women a better understanding of thier men or sons for that matter nothing wrong with that! so before u criticize that think abt the purpose behind the show not what they do on the show!

OK the purpose of the show is to entertain. The entertainment on offer, is the STEREOTYPE of the straight dude being boorish etc, put him at the mercy of the STEREOTYPE of gay dudes being talented, stylish, knowledgable, and cultured and see if they can change the boorish straight dude [or teach him something]. That is the basic premise of the show.

Entertaining no doubt. I will agree with that. But it is still patronising shit! I am a poof and fail to see any worthwhile lessons to be learnt. Other than, what unsightly hair, use Clairol to remove it!

TV only panders to the lowest common demoninator! STEREOTYPES.

No matter how much I flap your wrists, my weight keeps me from lifting off the ground, so I won't be flying to Floriduh this summer!

Hi Ya!

I am a rooky here, but wanted y'all to know that I have many, many gay deaf friends and love them dearly. I am comfortable with this subject, please welcome me into your folds!

*straps on my plastic male appendage!* :boink: deafbrutha, I have two particular gay friends that I am so close with I consider them my "brothers" because I don't have brothers in real life. The two "particular" gay men know who they are and we have an incredible banter and rapport between each other. When I read your comment, I had to disagree with you because when I got to know them, I actually grew to love the guys, not only as gay men but as human beings. All the talk about "wrist-flinging", and changing the neathaderal straight man's style/habits.. it has nothing to do with the true gay person.

U took my words away freaky exactly my thoughts considering the fact I also know those two gentlemen and i don t see the come all hither of a *femmie* flicking of a wrist and i know SO many gay men that doesn't do that and some poeple in the gay norms do walk the walk and talk the takl but theyd on't flick the wrist like its going broke!

As for the stereotying I totally identifed with two gentlemen who are in touch with thier femmie side, and the male who are also very into the both side norms.

Carlson and thom are very into decors and clothing so it goes to show simple said and done femmie side to the women! SO they aren't FLICKING the dayum wrist thier in tune with what ALL women go thru and the male status doesn't seem to understand whilist MANY women do!

So there is NO stereotyping IN the tv adage, cuz as far as im concerned that show is a great way to get intouch with everything A to Z

OH by the way deafbrutha, freaky walked the walk and talked the talk :) no offense :)

:werd: I had a gay hairdresser in Cleveland, Ohio and he put magic touch on my hair. My hair was beautiful then. Now, I moved to the West Coast.. my hair is like blah. LOL I still have light wavy hair..

Well, this goes to show that women only go for looks... not personality. Second of all, it does get a bit annoying to see the guys sitting there...

"OMG! He's shaving wrong! Ahh!"
"Hey! That woman didn't recognize his new shirt!"
"Uh oh! His collar is a bit bent!"
"Ahh! She likes it!" *jumping excitedly*

NO vampy to me its all abt how he appeared to others and that;s an observation and u know what even my dad agrees shaving the wrong way hurts his skins so he actually tried against the grain and it felt SO good so some of the pointers on the show really helped my dad out and as well as my bro in law, AND hey Deaf brutha, thought u should know this, the fab five is there for the straight guy and those guys are glad that there is help in there! and observing and helping one another sure shows nothing's wrong but a little change in appearance ( ok alot) and thier household really gives the house and the person something to feel good abt, and indently if u dont like the show, Don't watch it :)
