****I got this in an e-mail from someone a long time ago... enjoy! 
Mr. and Mrs. Potato had a baby girl potato named Yam. Yam grew up having everything she ever wanted and needed and was quite spoiled, since her parents could afford to give her the best. When the time came for Yam to attend college, she decided to go to Yale to get the best education possible.
Soon after school started, Yam met a boy potato named Tom Brokaw. He had grown up a very poor boy and still led a very simple life, as is what he was accustomed to. Yam was bothered at first, but even so, their relationship became serious and at Christmas break, Yam brought Tom home to meet her parents with some very exciting news.
"Mom, Dad", said Yam, "I'd like you to meet my new fiance, Tom Brokaw! We are getting married!"
Mrs. Potato immediately pulled her daughter aside, obviously concerned. "Yam, honey, you can't marry this boy."
"Well, why, Mom? He's such a great guy!"
Mrs. Potato explained, "You can't marry him because he's just a Common Tater!"
