Philadelphia police and apparently federal authorities are investigating an officer accused of attempting to run a criminal background check on President Obama, a FOX News affiliate has learned.

Sgt. Ray Evers confirmed that the police are investigating a 5-year veteran of the force but would not identify the officer.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, one day after Obama's 48th birthday, the FOX News affiliate learned.

The attempt set off some kind of early warning system in police dispatch, which notified the officer's captain, Evers said.

It's unclear what information might have been sought during the attempted record check.

Last month, two DeKalb County, Ga., police officers were accused of running a criminal background check on the president. Officials said both officers were put on leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

Well, well, well . . . isn't this interesting . . . our "commander in chief" apparently hasn't had a background check done on him and police are up in arms that one of their own did one on him. I wonder what the president has to hide . . . any guesses?

Where in the article say that he has never had a background check?

It is not the Philadelphia's police dept's job to do a background check on the President. Isnt that left for the CIA or Feds?

It isn't the job of a police officer to do a background check on anyone that they aren't investigating. Otherwise it really isn't any of their business.
