Paying the Medical Bills of Illegal Aliens

The Bush administration has just announced that the American taxpayer will provide $1 billion over the next four years to pay illegal alien (search) medical expenses. Unbelievable.

Each state can apply for the federal funds based upon the amount of illegals it has to deal with. California, of course, will get the most money, but the point is the feds recognize the magnitude of the illegal invasion but still won't stop it.

Now, we asked all the border state senators what they would do to stop the chaos. And their answers are very interesting. Dianne Feinstein (search) from California favors federal funding to pay for the incarceration of criminal aliens and more funding for the Border Patrol. California's Barbara Boxer (search) would not answer the question, typical of her. Arizona's John McCain (search) says he has a plan and will make it public soon. Jon Kyl of Arizona also has a plan, but it differs from McCain's. Kyl's plan will be unveiled in June.

John Cornyn of Texas is on board with Kyl's plan, whatever it is. Kay Bailey Hutchison, also from Texas, wants more Border Patrol agents. Jeff Bingaman from New Mexico wants ranchers to be given radios so they can call the Border Patrol and wants more Border Patrol agents. New Mexico's Pete Domenici wants almost $1 billion more to beef up border security.

So there you have it. What do you think? Do you think the politicians have a clue?

Talking Points is not optimistic. There's no serious talk of using the military to back up the Border Patrol. And unless you stop the flood of illegals coming in here every day, all the other stuff's useless. And Americans will continue to pay for the invasion. It's that simple.

So what we have here is an unresolved problem that's likely to remain unresolved. The politicians are simply avoiding the issue. And the majority of Americans are OK with that. What more can I say?

The whole idea of paying for illegal aliens seems dumb to me. There are work visas available and the rest should be sent back wherever they came from. I can't imagine why I have to pay for someone who managed to slip into this country illegally. I don't oppose people coming to the US, only those who come in illegally.

It really pisses me off!!! These border jumping losers get better taken care of the most Americans that were born here. What is wrong with this country?
We need to start takingh care of our own!!! We have homeless people that were born here that need help. They need medical help. These benefits should be going to the people born here. We give aliens & immargrants way to much. It is totally unfair the Americans that have been here for generations. Who cannot afford Medical insurance... I'm sick of seeing the get the breaks While Average Joe American works his ass off & struggles...

i m immigrant but legal permanent residence and been working full time since my arrival here last 1999 and paying to my healthy insurance through my employee so far
i know of many mexican around here illegally, i remmy my husband has worked at azteca restaurant there is many mexicans without ssn and ID also boss is mexican i think he is legal but why let workers mexicans work for him illegally

This subject drives me crazy. It isn't just the Bush administration. The Clinton administration didn't do anything to resolve the problem either.

I remember seeing a documentary on the subject several years back. This ranger in TX had land along the border. He kept having to replace his barbed wire fence because the illegals would cut it has they hiked across his property. So what did the border patrol suggest? That he put up stairs over the fense so they get get across without cutting it. Ridicules!

It isn't fair for the taxpayers and the citizens. We pay several billions of dollars on illegal immigrants. Traffic woes, more people that isn't counted on the census and rapid growth, sprawl, health, illegal jobs, and the list so on.

Hah, it is so easy to head to the nearest DMV to get a license.
America died May 10 this week with the unanimous approval of a NAtional ID card.
We are truly a Police State now.
Your whole life is in that card thru a swipe.
EVERYTHING you did in purchases etc is available thru that damned card.
One thing about the CARD, though, is that a permanent address is required, not a P.O. box or anything.
I am sure undercover cops are thrilled.

I have written Senators & Congressmen. Been doing so for 15 years. Nothing ever gets done about it. I'm surprized they haven't locked me up. What this counrty is turning into is sicking. Both are to blame both Dems & Reps. They all suck...

I know what you mean. My daughter and son-in-law are both born Americans, both work full-time jobs, and they can't afford medical insurance. It scares me that they don't have medical insurance for them or their kids.

Hubby and I both work but we can't afford medical insurance. We do get limited medical service at reduced cost at the Veteran's Hospital but that is all.

Yeah I know how that is. We struggle at every turn. I have no medical ins. for my family. Yet Aliens & Immigrants get everything handed to them. I dislike so many of this countries policies...
