I have a great interest in wildlife photography, and I like to practice my skills at local zoos. One zoo that I recently visited is having a photo contest; the winning shots will be used in next year's calendar and sold in the gift shop.
Here's my issue. I am totally new to shooting in RAW and doing all the post-processing of pictures myself. I have been messing around, reading various tutorials and I think I am finally getting the hang of it.
My first attempt is the following shot of a Red-Crested Cardinal feeding on an orange in an indoor aviary. This has been my best attempt at post-processing so far, but I'm not sure I like the end result. What do you think? Good pic or too unnatural-looking? Should I bother entering it?
(this is a much smaller resolution photo than the version I would enter)
And just for fun, here's a Red Kangaroo closeup that I am definitely entering (I can enter up to 3 photos).
Thanks!
