The night sky is pitch black and there is no air,
A whirlpool galaxy, epic and swirling, is within view...
Crashed is our spacecraft and doomed race,
On a planet light-years from Earth.
Earth is long gone, consumed by a nuclear war...
All grass is now extinct, suffocated by fallout
And clouds cover planet Earth until it freezes over.
Billions of stars stretch across the whole cosmos,
We have been stranded on a strange planet,
We are armed to the brim like soldiers
Although it is a new home we search for.
The arsenal of the future is at our disposal,
Our space suits guard against cosmic rays,
As well as extreme hot and cold temperatures.
We have technology to establish a futuristic utopia,
The ability to terraform a barren planet and
Create an air colony...
Vast barren hills and mesas are everywhere
The world seems silent and empty—
Our eyes, crystal-clear, scan the horizons,
And detect a gaseous planet with rings
But it is not Saturn, Jupiter, nor Uranus.
A wave of trapped feeling washes over us.
Sound doesn’t work in this environment,
We are having transmission difficulties.
Suddenly, we see something frightening,
Something we never knew existed in the universe...
Observing us like we’re an inferior species....
