Hi! My name is Brian. I am 22 years old and hearing. I am living in south Texas at the time, near Austin. I am interested in deepening my knowledge of ASL. I took one year of ASL in my senior year in high school (it was the first year they offered it) on top of learning what I could from my girlfriend at the time, who is deaf. I am highly interested in languages, and am currently pursuing a degree in Russian.
From what I've experienced so far, I much prefer the deaf community to that of the hearing. It is much more tight-knit, and people actually help each other. I also like that deaf people don't complain when I wear my headphones like hearing people do.
